The many times reconstructed, dominantly classicist palace served as a residence for many historical personalities. The history of the palace started in 1696 but the building gained its final form only in 1934. The palace got its name after Mihßly Kßrolyi who was the first president of the Hungarian republic in 1918. In memory of the president there is a room on the first floor. This palace houses the Pet⌡fi Museum of Literature which owns a collection of books, periodicals, manuscripts, phono recordings and works of fine art.
