  19. This file gives an exercise in creating 
  20. Penguin Graphics.  It is best done in a 
  21. wide screen mode.  Try selecting mode 16 
  22. from the mode entry on the palette icon at 
  23. the bottom-right of the screen.

  25. 1. Mark the slots from A1 to B4 by dragging 
  26. with the mouse.
  27.  
  28. 2. Bring up the PipeDream menu and, from 
  29. the Chart sub-menu, select new chart.  This 
  30. will give you a 3D bar chart.

  32. You may find that the chart window overlaps 
  33. with this window.  If so, move it as far to 
  34. the right of the screen as you can.  You 
  35. can also try making the chart window a 
  36. little narrower.

  38. 3. With the pointer in the Chart window, 
  39. bring up the Chart window menu, and select 
  40. the Bar Gallery from the Gallery sub-menu.

  44. 4. In the Bar Gallery switch off 3D by 
  45. clicking on the asterisk. Then click on the 
  46. icon showing the three penguins of 
  47. different sizes.  This will select the 
  48. "stretched" penguin chart.  Then click on 
  49. the OK button to clear the Bar Gallery.

  51. 5. Try changing the numbers in the slots 
  52. above to see the penguins change size 
  53. automatically.  For example try changing 
  54. the Daddy size to 5.

  58. 6. Bring the Bar Gallery back onto the 
  59. screen and click on the icon showing 
  60. "stacked penguins" and then click on OK.

  66. 7. Find the directory Pictures.flags and 
  67. bring up a directory viewer of it.
  68.  
  69. 8. Click on one of the penguins in the 
  70. chart with the left button.  This will 
  71. select Series 1 which is all three penguin 
  72. bars.  Drag the file UnionJack from the 
  73. directory viewer into the chart window.  
  74. The penguin bars will change to stacked 
  75. union jacks.

  77. 9. Click on one of the union jacks with 
  78. the right button of the mouse.  this will 
  79. select just that data point.  Drag another 
  80. flag file into the chart.  The data point 
  81. will be redrawn with the new flag.

  83. 10. Try changing the numbers at the top of 
  84. this window.  Try also changing the labels.  
  85. For example, you might change "Daddy" to 
  86. "Britain", "Mummy" to "USA" and "Baby" to 
  87. "Japan".  Fill the bars with the 
  88. appropriate flags.
