- Cribbage - The Card Game
-
-
-
- -------- Game options ----------------------------------
-
- Normal - Regular cribbage. Boxes are used alternately,
- normally over an 121 point course.
-
- Sprint - No boxes, you just discard two cards before
- commencing the pegging phase. Normally this
- game is played over a shortened course.
-
- -------- How runs are made -----------------------------
-
- Mixed - During pegging, runs can be scored in any
- order and to any length. Be careful when
- playing as the Arc is very quick to spot
- high-scoring runs.
-
- Linear - Runs will only be counted if they are
- in direct sequence, up or down.
-
- In all run cases, an Ace is scored below
- the deuce (2) only, not above King.
-
- -------- Points for Game -------------------------------
-
- 121 - The normal cribbage default course.
-
- 61 - A shorter, more exciting course.
-
- 31 - For very fast 'Sprint' dashes. Since the Arc
- plays a very different game when entering
- the last few blocks of the course, you can
- use this option to enjoy the last furious
- fling for the winning post.
-
- -------- Help ------------------------------------------
-
- Help - Brings up this file in an Arc command window.
-
- Hint - using Select or Menu on the options
- menu will cause it to disappear. Using Adjust
- will keep it on the screen for further work.
-
- -------- New Game --------------------------------------
-
- Game - Any of the option flags can be reset during
- play, and will take effect on the next deal.
-
- It is however recommended that a new game
- is initialised if you want to modify the
- play parameters.
-
- -------- Clicking --------------------------------------
-
- Click - All card selections are made with the mouse
- by pointing and clicking with Select. Using
- Adjust will invert the card only, it will not
- get it played.
-
- If you click too soon, the card may invert,
- meaning 'selected' but not get played. If
- this happens, keep clicking on it. The Arc
- will let you play it eventually!
-
- -------- Wait before proceeding ------------------------
-
- Pause - When the Application asks you to 'Click to
- continue', remember that the "message zones"
- below the cards are icons and sometimes will
- not respond to a 'click'.
-
- Move your pointer to the 'Box/Run' area or
- above in the Cribbage window for the best
- clicking results.
-
- Always click with the Select button.
-
- -------- Unsportsmanlike Conduct -----------------------
-
- Cheat - The Archimedes plays the game to the best of
- it's abilities without examining the players
- cards. It is of course possible to use the
- options menu to deal a series of hands until
- a satisfactory one appears. This is viewed as
- highly unsporting and may result in the player
- being dealt a yellow card or worse.
-
- -------- Default selections ----------------------------
-
- Start - Normal Cribbage, Mixed runs, 121 points.
