- INTRODUCTION...
-
- Blueprint is a Maze (&08A) file creator/editor. The Maze files are used
- with my game Labyrinth.
-
- LOADING...
-
- Simply double-click on the icon in a filer window.
-
- EDITING A MAZE...
-
- Drag the Maze file onto the icon. The program will switch to mono-tasking
- mode and load in the details of the maze. It can then be edited using the
- options as described below.
-
- CREATING A MAZE...
-
- Click on the icon and a standard save box will appear. Alter the name if
- required and drag the icon into a filer window. The program will then switch
- to mono-tasking mode with a blank grid.
-
- Most of the screen is taken up with the 20x20 grid. If you are creating a
- new maze then it will be blank apart from the wall all the way around the
- edge.
- At the top left of the screen is the current status of the program. When
- you start it will read 'Editing:Lines'.
- In the bottom right corner is the icons that allow you to select the
- various options.
-
- Adding lines:
-
- When the program starts this option is already selected, but at any time
- you can re-select it by clicking on the bottom right corner icon (depicting
- a small white maze).
- Click on one of the points (or along the edge) to fix one end of the wall.
- The point will turn pink. Click on another point to create the wall. Note:
- walls can only be created vertically or horizontally. Also you cannot create
- or remove lines along the edges of the grid.
- To remove a wall set one end as before, but this time click on the other
- end with Adjust.
-
- Adding tokens:
-
- Next to the lines icon are the three token icons (depicted by pyramids
- viewed from above). One white, one purple, and one green.
- To place a token on the grid simply click on its icon and click where you
- want it on the grid. If you later want to move it somewhere else, then
- simply click where you want it.
-
- Adding the start position:
-
- The start position icon is a red circle. Using this is the same as the
- tokens. Simply click on the red circle icon and then click on the grid to
- fix the start position.
-
- Adding the teleport:
-
- There are two icons for the teleport (a green square with yellow lines and
- a yellow square with green lines). One is the start and the other is the
- finish. When the player moves over the start, then they immediately get
- moved to the finish. Teleports only work once.
- To place them use as the tokens and the start position. The status text at
- the top of the screen will tell you which one you currently have selected.
-
- We now come to the top row of icons.
-
- Saving the maze:
-
- To save the maze simply click on the save icon (depicted by a floppy
- disc). Before the save can take place, 1600 pieces of data must be
- calculated. This takes about 20 seconds.
-
- Starting again:
-
- To wipe the grid click on the clear icon (depicted as a blank grid).
-
- Setting the time limit:
-
- Every maze must have a time limit. To set this click on the time icon
- (depicted by a clock). Enter the length of time allowed in seconds and press
- Return.
-
- Returning to the desktop:
-
- Simply click on the icon depicted by a desktop.
-
- POINTS TO NOTE...
-
- When the player starts a maze, they are always looking north (up on the
- grid in Blueprint.
-
- When you come to save the maze, if you don't have a start position and
- three tokens then the save will be aborted. Also the save will be aborted if
- you only have one teleport icon on, or if any of the tokens, teleports, and
- the start position are on top of each other.
-
- If the maze doesn't use up all of the grid, then you must make sure that
- the player can't get to the unused parts. In this area, the maze won't be
- displayed correctly.
-
- Feel free to alter the mazes that are supplied with Labyrinth, but once
- you do the software ceases to be PD, and you are not allowed to distribute
- it to anyone. Labyrinth must only be distributed with the original files,
- and they must be unaltered.
-
- CHANGES SINCE LAST VERSION (1.01)...
-
- BluePrint will now work in a read-only archive.
- Maze filetype icon changed.
-
- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
-
- This software may be freely distributed as long as none of the files are
- altered or tampered with in any way, and no profit is made.
