TextView 2.1
============
(C) Matthew C Finlayson 1993-94
TextView is a text-file viewing program for the Psion Series 3a. The main
reason for using TextView rather than the built-in Word application is that
it requires little memory to run in and will open files of any size without
serious loss in performance.
Installation and use:
---------------------
The program consists of the file TEXTVIEW.APP which should be copied into
the \APP directory on the Psion and installed as usual. (Alternatively, it
may be renamed to TEXTVIEW.IMG and run under the RunImg icon or its alias.)
The program will display \TXT\*.TXT files in its file-list.
All other instructions for the use of the program can be found in its in-built
help facility.
Distribution:
-------------
Version 2.1 of TextView may be freely distributed for personal or academic use
as long as it is unmodified and this documentation is supplied with it.
Commercial users should contact the address below for licensing details. Later
versions may be released as Shareware.
Future Enhancements:
--------------------
The three main enhancements I am planning for TextView are:
(i) to allow the program to display compressed files (though this will
probably be simple Huffman compression rather than one of the proprietary
systems such as PKZIP).
(ii) to add hex viewing facilities.
Any comments or suggestions for further developments should be sent to me at
the Email address below.
Revision History:
-----------------
1.0 Initial release for the S3.
1.1 Additional features added including line wrap, display options
and performance improvement.
2.0 Converted to work on the S3a.
2.1 Added word wrap and link-paste server functionality.
