  4. The !Scrap application is a tempoary storage area 
  5. used by applications to store documents and other 
  6. information while it is being transferred to another
  7. application.
  8.  
  9. Some applications also use !Scrap to store other 
  10. temporary information (information which is not 
  11. being transferred to another application). These
  12. applications may need !Scrap to have been seen 
  13. before they are run.

  15. Error messages
  16. ==============

  18. If an error message of the form "Can't transfer file
  19. (use *Set Wimp$Scrap <filename>)" is given by an 
  20. application this means that the !Scrap application 
  21. has not yet been seen by the system.  You should 
  22. open a directory display containing !Scrap then try 
  23. the operation again.

  25. If the message "Protected Disc" is given when trying
  26. to transfer information between applications. The 
  27. !Scrap application is probably on a floppy disc 
  28. which is write protected. Applications must be able 
  29. to write to the !Scrap application. Copy !Scrap to a
  30. writable location, then double click the new !Scrap 
  31. to cause the copy to be used.

  33. !Scrap cannot be used on a write protected floppy 
  34. disc or in a read-only location on a network.
