  38. There are two versions of the Secret Guide to Computers and
  39. one in Plain Vanilla ASCII [pv] and one in WordPerfect [wp].
  40.  
  41. This WordPerfect version is in 5.1.

  43. The Plain Vanilla ASCII version does NOT have our usual set
  44. of marginations, and thus you will have to choose margins a
  45. few times to see what fits your screen; we hope some of you
  46. will volunteer to create a version which looks good on your
  47. normal 65-75 character margins, this will take some work...

  50. The official release date of all Project Gutenberg Etexts is at
  51. Midnight, Central Time, of the last day of the stated month.  A
  52. preliminary version may often be posted for suggestion, comment
  53. and editing by those who wish to do so.  To be sure you have an
  54. up to date first edition [xxxxx10x.xxx] please check file sizes
  55. in the first week of the next month.  Since our ftp program has
  56. a bug in it that scrambles the date [tried to fix and failed] a
  57. look at the file size will have to do, but we will try to see a
  58. new copy has at least one byte more or less.

  63. We produce about two million dollars for each hour we work.  The
  64. fifty hours is one conservative estimate for how long it we take
  65. to get any etext selected, entered, proofread, edited, copyright
  66. searched and analyzed, the copyright letters written, etc.  This
  67. projected audience is one hundred million readers.  If our value
  68. per text is nominally estimated at one dollar, then we produce 2
  69. million dollars per hour this year we, will have to do four text
  70. files per month:  thus upping our productivity from one million.
  71. The Goal of Project Gutenberg is to Give Away One Trillion Etext
  72. Files by the December 31, 2001.  [10,000 x 100,000,000=Trillion]
  73. This is ten thousand titles each to one hundred million readers,
  74. which is 10% of the expected number of computer users by the end
  75. of the year 2001.
