Additional Notes to Accompany Version 3.00 (06-Jun-1993)
========================================================
!!!! P L E A S E N O T E !!!!
==============================
!EPSobject is - N O T - a Postscript Interpreter.
It can convert EPS files from AI or Corel-Draw 2.xx/3.xx formats (or from
programs using these formats) but is not guaranteed to work with other EPS
formats.
---
Text rotation is fully implemented in this version but the benefits will
only be apparent when the generated files are viewed with vector graphic
programs utilising the Font Manager accompanying RISC OS 3.xx .
!Draw version 0.88 and of course Artworks and Vector have been shown to
successfully display converted files containing rotated text.
[Some intermediate versions of !EPSobject were produced but not released as
it has now been decided to support *only* RISC OS 3 in future because of the
difficulties involved in text manipulation with the Font Manager used prior
to RISC OS 3.00.]
If you still use RISC OS 2 then you should replace the !Run file with
the enclosed !RunRO2 file (ie. delete !Run and rename !RunRO2 to !Run)¹.
After conversion with !EPSobject 3.00, the resulting Draw files will not
display the standard fonts correctly if these make use of the
additional facilities offered only under the RISC OS 3 Font Manager.
However the draw files *will* be correctly translated so that if/when you
do upgrade, a new conversion of the EPS files will be uneccessary.
¹ NB. DO NOT distribute in this form !!
---
Additionally, a few minor 'bug fixes' and improvements have been made in
this version.
---
Example files are no longer distributed together with the program as these
have not changed from previous versions. You should, however, be able to
obtain them seperately from the same place you received !EPSobject (possibly
as a Sparkive called simply 'EPSfiles').
