ShiftKeys 0.02 (04 Jul 1995)
Shift key control by mouse by Andrew Clover of DoggySoft
=============================================================================
ShiftKeys is a simple desktop module that allows the Shift, Control and Alt
keys to be 'pressed' by clicking on some desktop buttons with the mouse. This
makes operations which have to be executed using the mouse and a shift key
simultaneously (for example, shift-double-click) easier for many special
needs users, and, in conjuction with Acorn's Chars application, may be used
to operate the desktop without the use of a keyboard.
ShiftKeys requires RISC OS 3.0 or later. It uses less than 20K of memory.
To use ShiftKeys, double click on !ShiftKeys. The six shifting keys (both
the left and right-hand versions of the shifting keys are provided) attach
themselves to the icon bar, and move with it (so that, for example, pressing
shift-F12 moves them to the front as well as the icon bar). When a button is
clicked upon, it 'pops in'; clicking again undoes this.
Whilst a button is popped in, the desktop should behave as if that button
is pressed on the keyboard. For example: you can select either 'Shift' button
then double-click on a file to load it into your text editor; you can select
either 'Ctrl' button then open a directory viewer to open it without letting
all the applications inside it boot up.
However, the shifting keys affect only mouse operations, generally.
Selecting a 'Shift' key and then pressing the 1 key will not give you an
exclamation mark, for example.
That's about it. Enjoy. Hopefully one or two of you may find this program
useful. You can contact me to make comments, suggestions or (hopefully not)

History
=======
This version has the month in the module help string; it also supports the
desktop save protocol, which for some reason I forgot to implement in version
0.01. I don't envisage any further versions.
