  10. DDEESSCCRRIIPPTTIIOONN
  11.      RRaannlliibb creates a table of external references for archive libraries, nor-
  12.      mally used by the loader, ld(1).  This table is is named ``__.SYMDEF''
  13.      and is prepended to the archive.  Files in the archive which are not exe-
  14.      cutable and symbols which are uninteresting to the loader are ignored.

  16.      The options are as follows:
  17.  
  18.      --tt      Set the modification time of the __.SYMDEF file.  This time is
  19.              compared by the loader with the modification time of the archive
  20.              to verify that the table is up-to-date with respect to the
  21.              archive.  If the modification time has been changed without any
  22.              change to the archive (for example, by a cp(1)),  the --tt option
  23.              can be used to ``touch'' the modification time so that it appears
  24.              that the table is up-to-date.  This is also useful after using
  25.              the --tt option of make(1).
