  1. Specifying the -g flag to GCC on a RISC iX machine requires upgrading the 
  2. standard assembler distributed with both RISC iX 1.1 and RISC iX 1.2 with a 
  3. replacement that is available from Acorn.  This version of the assembler is
  4. also an order of magnitude faster when assembling to an NFS mounted 
  5. file-system.

  7. Users of RISC iX 1.2 and above can obtain a copy of the assembler from the 
  8. following places:

  10. 1) Via ftp from acorn.acorn.co.uk, directory pub/riscix.

  12. 2) From Acorn Customer Services.

  15.  
  16. 4) From the Newcastle Mail server.

  18. Users of versions of RISC iX prior 1.2 should contact Acorn Customer Services;
  19. the assembler available on the net will not work with these versions due to
  20. changes in the shared libraries and system call numbers.
