  15.        _Z_c_m_p and _z_d_i_f_f are used to invoke the _c_m_p or the _d_i_f_f pro-
  16.        gram on  compressed  files.   All  options  specified  are
  17.        passed  directly to _c_m_p or _d_i_f_f.  If only 1 file is speci-
  18.        fied, then the files compared  are  _f_i_l_e_1  and  an  uncom-
  19.        pressed  _f_i_l_e_1.gz.   If two files are specified, then they
  20.        are uncompressed if necessary and fed to _c_m_p or _d_i_f_f.  The
  21.        exit status from _c_m_p or _d_i_f_f is preserved.
