  3. release detailing some of the changes made in ADPro 2.5.  Mailings are
  4. going  out  now to registered users.  Since you can upgrade via phone,

  28. unmatched  display board support, over 100 pre-written ARexx programs,

  30. direct support for the Fargo Primera dye sublimation printer, new file
  31.  
  32. formats  and  operators,  and  an  entirely  new  look  and feel which
  33.  
  34. dramatically boosts ease-of-use.

  48. Professional (ADPro) version 2.5.  According to the company, ADPro 2.5
  49.  
  50. is "the most significant upgrade in the product's history".

  54. ADPro  version  2.5  offers a choice of several completely style guide
  55.  
  56. compliant user interfaces.  According to company president, Mr.  Perry
  57.  
  58. Kivolowitz,  "A  new and thoroughly modern user interface was our most
  59.  
  60. requested  improvement.  We surveyed our customers and found that some
  61.  
  62. preferred  a  list  oriented graphical user interface (GUI) for speed,
  63.  
  64. while  others  preferred  a  button  oriented GUI for ease-of-use.  We
  65.  
  66. implemented both and allowed them to be intermixed configurably."

  70. The  result,  says  the company, is an easier-to-use ADPro in which no
  71.  
  72. major  feature is more than a mouse click away.  Comments which typify
  73.  
  74. beta  tester  feedback  to the new user interface include those of Mr.
  75.  
  76. Brick  Eksten,  of  Expert  Services.   Says  Mr.  Eksten, "I find the
  77.  
  78. interface  to  be  much faster, and that helps me get more work done."

  80. These  sentiments  were  echoed  by Mr.  Kenneth Wilder, Head Animator
  81.  
  82. with Marmalade, who found the new user interface alone gained him a 20
  83.  
  84. percent increase in productivity.

  88. ADPro's  GUI  now runs on many third party display boards, such as the
  89.  
  90. Picasso,  using RTG (ReTargetable Graphics) technology.  ADPro can now
  91.  
  92. render  images  in  a window on the same screen as its user interface,
  93.  
  94. bringing  new  levels  of  WYSIWYG  performance to the product.  Other
  95.  
  96. newly  supported  third party hardware includes:  DPS PAR, EGS, Retina
  97.  
  98. Z-III and Retina, and the Video Toaster.

  102. The  Amiga's  finest  image format support has gotten even better with
  103.  
  104. the  addition  of 6 new file formats in ADPro and 3 new formats in the
  105.  
  106. (optional)  Professional Conversion Pack (PCP).  To ADPro, the company

  108. has  added  support  for  Commodore's  CDXL  animation format, Digital
  109.  
  110. Broadcaster  JStream  files,  FLC  and  FLI  animations, ICO files and
  111.  
  112. direct  reading  and writing of Workbench icons.  The PCP has grown to
  113.  
  114. support  files  in the SGI, Alias, and Wavefront (both the RLA and RLB
  115.  
  116. varieties)  formats.   Owners  of  the PCP should note that, as in the
  117.  
  118. past, their PCP modules will be upgraded as part of the ADPro upgrade.

  122. ADPro 2.5 directly supports the revolutionary Fargo Primera printer in
  123.  
  124. its  dye  sublimation  mode  (its  thermal  transfer  mode was already
  125.  
  126. supported   by   ADPro's   PrefPrinter  saver).   "The  Primera  is  a
  127.  
  128. breakthrough due to its low price," said Sales Manager Gina Cerniglia.
  129.  
  130. "We've  adapted  our  state-of-the-art  printer  support  to drive the
  131.  
  132. Primera in dye sub mode including the ability to print huge posters in
  133.  
  134. amazing color."

  138. ADPro  2.5  includes more than 100 pre-written ARexx programs, many of
  139.  
  140. which are interactively customizable by the user.  Used in conjunction
  141.  
  142. with  the latest version of FRED, these ARexx programs can be combined
  143.  
  144. in  an  infinite number of ways, producing a huge array of full motion
  145.  
  146. special  effects automatically.  And, ADPro now allows users to define
  147.  
  148. their  own  ARexx  programs  which  can  be incorporated directly into
  149.  
  150. ADPro's configurable user interface.

  154. Many  other  improvements or additions have been made to ADPro such as
  155.  
  156. the  ability  to perform alpha channel blending with nearly every file
  157.  
  158. format,   not  just  those  that  support  their  own  alpha  channel.

  160. Composits  can now be performed over a range of colors permitting more
  161.  
  162. flexible  chroma keying.  New operators include Histogram Equalization
  163.  
  164. and a brush-based Pattern operator.  A new program called CineMorph is
  165.  
  166. included  which converts streams of images between 24 frame per second
  167.  
  168. film style and 60 field per second video style time bases.

  172. ADPro  2.5 also sports greatly improved documentation.  ADPro's manual
  173.  
  174. now  includes  9  tutorials,  many  more pictures and diagrams, and an
  175.  
  176. expanded   ARexx  programming  section.   The  manual  has  also  been

  178. reorganized  (and  its  index  expanded)  based upon customer feedback
  179.  
  180. making it easier to use and more helpful.

  185.  
  186. upgrade for $45 plus shipping and can, for the first time, upgrade via
  187.  
  188. telephone using Visa, MasterCard, or AmericanExpress.
