  5. This file contains some overview information about the contents of the
  6. CD-ROM, followed by a concatenation of a bunch of individual Contents
  7. files on the CD-ROM.  Note that not all the material on the CD-ROM
  8. appears in a Contents file somewhere, so the list of programs found in
  9. this file is only a subset of what is actually on the CD-ROM.  In
  10. particular, the only detailed contents listed here are for material
  11. that is "New" with this CD-ROM.

  14. STRUCTURE OF THE CD-ROM

  17. The 636 Mb on the CD-ROM is divided into roughly three sections: (1)
  18. New material, which includes the material from the new unreleased
  19. floppy disks as well as material which does not appear in the floppy
  20. distribution, (2) useful utilities that can be used directly off the
  21. CD-ROM if desired, thus freeing up the corresponding amount of hard
  22. disk space, and (3) older material from previous released floppy disks
  23. or CD-ROM's.

  25. The portion of the disk dedicated to new material that I've not
  26. previously published on a CD-ROM or floppy disk is 59 Mb, broken down
  27. as follows:

  69. Here are the current GNU distributions which are included in both source
  70. and binary form.  In most cases, they are the very latest distributions
  71. ftp'd directly from the FSF machines and compiled with the version of gcc
  72. included on this CD-ROM.  I have personally compiled all of the GNU
  73. binaries supplied on this CD-ROM, to verify that the compiler is solid and
  74. that the binaries are in fact recreatable from the supplied source code.

  140. Contents of Floppy Disks 600-975

  143. I've elected to use the BBS ready form of the contents of disks
  144. 600-975 to fill the remaining space on the CD-ROM, after everything
  145. else was included.  For each floppy disk, there is a separate archive
  146. of each item listed in the floppy disk contents file, as well as an
  147. archive for the floppy disk "overhead" files and a CRC list of the
  148. entire disk contents.

  150. There is also a beta release of "PufferFish", a utility by Peter
  151. Janes, which can be used to recreate master floppy disks from the
  152. archives and CRC lists, for further duplication and distribution.

  158. IconMiser    Intercepts attempts by programs to create icons and substi-
  159.         tutes images or icons you prefer in their place.  Easy to
  160.         configure, works with 1.2 or above.  Supports icon drag-n-
  161.         drop with 2.0 or above.  Version 2.0, binary only.

  164. MaxonMAGIC    Demoversion of the commercial program MaxonMAGIC, an anim-
  165.         ated screenblanker and crazy soundprogram.  The complete
  166.         version includes 15 different blankers and two disks full
  167.         of samples.  The demo is almost completely operational.
  168.         Settings can't be saved and it will also remind the user
  169.         that it is a demo every now and then.

  176. MachV        Release 5.0, version 37.5 of the hotkey/macro/multipurpose
  177.         utility.  You can record keystrokes and mouse events,
  178.         manipulate screens and windows, popup a shell, view the
  179.         clipboard, blank the screen and much more.  This release
  180.         has a complete ARexx interface, so you can execute ARexx
  181.         programs and functions from hotkeys and store results in
  182.         environment variables.  The optional title bar clock is an
  183.         AppWindow.  You can drop an icon in the clock and its name
  184.         is set in a variable for use in macros.  The documentation
  185.         has been rewritten and includes two indices.  This is the
  186.         freely distributable release of 5.0.  It is the same as the
  187.         registered version except this version has a "welcome"
  188.         window and has a limit of 25 macros.  It has been localized
  189.         for deutsch and francais.  Requires OS2.04+.  This is an
  190.         update to MachIV on disk number 624.  Binary only, share-
  191.         ware.

  194. UUArc        UUArc is an archiving system designed to enable easy trans-
  195.         mission of binary files/archives over communcation links
  196.         only capable of using ASCII, such as Electronic Mail.  It
  197.         encodes binary files into files containing only printable
  198.         standard ASCII characters.  Written primarily for use with
  199.         GuiArc to add UUEncoding/UUDecoding facilities to it, it
  200.         takes similar command line options to other commonly used
  201.         archiving programs.  This is version 1.3, an update to
  202.         version 1.1 on disk 912.  Public domain, includes source.

  209. AmigaToNTSC    AmigaToNTSC patches graphics.library so it will think you
  210.         have an NTSC Amiga.  AmigaToPAL will patch it to think you
  211.         have a PAL Amiga.  Custom screens will open in the mode
  212.         selected.  Version 1.2, an update to version 1.0 on disk
  213.         number 575.  Binary only.

  216. AppCon        Declares the actual CON:-window as an AppWindow and lets you
  217.         drop your icons in this window.  Then, the name and path of
  218.         the icon are inserted into the current command line exactly
  219.         as if you typed them with your keyboard, but slightly
  220.         faster!  Version 37.177, includes source.

  223. ByteFilter    Lets you to filter out specified bytes from any file, so you
  224.         are able to extract the texts from a binary file, for ex-
  225.         ample.  This is version 1.20 and it uses jhextras.library,

  230. EasyCatalog    An IFF-CTLG catalog file editor.  From now on, you can just
  231.         enter the text for the catalog and save it.  Existing cata-
  232.         logs can be loaded and changed.  Requires Kickstart 2.x or
  233.         higher.  English and Dutch (Nederlands) catalogs supplied.

  237. ISAM        A Server/Library.  Even novice programmers can store and/or
  238.         retrieve database records.  Powerful, multi-"user", almost
  239.         unlimited number & size of records/files.  Different users
  240.         may access same file, file and record locking (exclusive or
  241.         shared), multiple keys/file.  Keys may: ascend/descend,
  242.         have unique/repeatable values, be up to 499 bytes.  Many
  243.         record retrieval methods.  Recover Index file if lost or
  244.         corrupt.  Deleted record space reclaimed.  Small: server
  245.         is less than 51K; Resident Library less than 9K.  Usable

  261. MFT        Multi-Function Tool.  A little assembly program (just over
  262.         1K) that can perform all of the following DOS commands:
  263.         RENAME, DELETE, MAKEDIR, WAIT, FILENOTE.  Useful for disks
  264.         where every byte counts and you don't want a bunch of bigger
  265.         utilities taking up room.  Current version does not support
  266.         pattern matching.  Version 1.03, includes source in assem-
  267.         bler.

  270. SCAN8800    A specialized database program to store frequencies and
  271.         station names for shortwave transmitters.  It can also

  286.         Button - A little utility that opens a requester with
  287.         custom text.  Useful for batch and scripts; C64Saver -

  289.         saves them in a readable file; Calendar - A utility
  290.         which prints a monthly calendar and some information
  291.         about the days; CarLost - A utility that causes DTR
  292.         to drop on the serial port; CDPlayer -  A utility to
  293.         play a musical CD on CDTV or A570; FMBadFmt - Intuition
  294.         based utility which formats BAD floppies and makes them

  317.         Uses external fields {ASCII/IFF}.  Installation utility
  318.         provided.  Version 3.00, requires OS2.x or greater.

  322. FMsynth        A program to create sounds with FM synthesis.  It has six
  323.         operators, a realtime LFO and a free editable algorithm.
  324.         The sound can be played on the Amiga keyboard or on a MIDI
  325.         keyboard which is connected to the Amiga.  The sounds can
  326.         be saved in IFF-8SVX (one or five octave) or raw format.
  327.         FMsynth has an AREXX port now.  Included are 230 FM sounds.

  332. SetDefMon    A small utility to set the system's default monitor during
  333.         WBStartup or to zap the default monitor on the fly.  Possi-

  342. PARex        PARex is a program which allows you to process files, mostly
  343.         textfiles, whereby strings can be replaced by another, text
  344.         between two strings can be stripped, strings put in lower or
  345.         upper case.  PARex supports normal text searching, wildcard
  346.         searching, context remembering and word-only searching.
  347.         Using data scripts enables the use of an unlimited number of
  348.         such replace commands.  Each replace command can be indivi-
  349.         dually controlled.  All ASCII codes can be used in the
  350.         search and replace strings, even entire files, dates, times,
  351.         can be inserted in such strings.  Custom formatted hexadeci-
  352.         mal output is also supported.  Over twenty ready to use
  353.         program scripts are included to perform simple tasks as:
  354.         converting files between different computer systems, strip-
  355.         ping comments from source files, finding strings in files,
  356.         converting AmigaGuide files to normal text files,... even
  357.         automatic version updating of source files.  By the way,
  358.         v3.00 is about two to more than twenty times faster than
  359.         the previous versions, and is supplied in english, german,
  360.         french, and dutch.  This is version 3.00, an update to
  361.         version 2.12 on disk number 859.  Binary only (but the

  370.         limits; Solve for mate; Selectable fonts;  Setup board;

  386. Fed-CASE    A graphical environment to design flowcharts.  The source
  387.         code generator generates directly compilable C source.
  388.         The generated code can be compiled on other computer
  389.         systems.  I.E. you can generate source code for a C com-
  390.         piler on a UNIX operating system or a PC operating system.

  405. AmigaDiary    AmigaDiary is a handy workbench tool of the type that
  406.         currently abound office PC's.  It is a mouse driven diary
  407.         capable of storing all personal events and is the perfect
  408.         solution to all those forgotten birthdays, missed appoint-
  409.         ments etc.  Version 1.13, binary only.

  412. HQMM        Hero Quest MapMaker.  With HQMM, you can create your own
  413.         missions for Hero Quest, the board game.  You can place
  414.         all objects that are in the Hero Quest set (doors, traps,
  415.         furniture, monsters etc.) on the map and you can write
  416.         your own story to go with it.  All this will be printed
  417.         out in the same style as the original Hero Quest missions.

  421. IntuiMake    A tool for developers, created with the intention of
  422.         building complex projects, with an easy to use graphics
  423.         user interface.  No further knowledge about conventional
  424.         makes is needed, because Intuimake does not deal with

  433. Imperial    An oriental game in which you have to remove tiles from a
  434.         layout (like Shanghai or Taipei).  Every game has a solution
  435.         and there's a layout editor.  English NTSC version and
  436.         French PAL version supplied.  Some other versions available
  437.         from the author.  Version 2.0, binary only, shareware.

  440. Minesweeper    Yet another minesweeper game.  This one forgives the
  441.         player, when he hits a mine, if no useful inferences
  442.         could be made from the exposed information.  The element
  443.         of luck is sharply reduced.  First version, binary only.

  446. PowerPlayer    A very powerful, user friendly and system friendly module
  447.         player.  It can handle nearly all module-formats,
  448.         can read powerpacked & xpk-packed modules and comes along
  449.         with its own powerful cruncher that uses the lh.library.
  450.         Has a simple to use userinterface and an ARexx port,
  451.         has locale-support and a nice installer script for CBM's
  452.         installer utility.  Version 4.0, update to version 3.9 on

  460. FIVE-STAR    Demo version of a powerful prediction tool for LOTTO,
  461.         POOLS, SWEEP, DIGIT (eg 4d) and HORSE (races) systems
  462.         available worldwide.  The program uses an identical
  463.         framework for all five systems but they are run com-
  464.         pletely individually so that any number of them can
  465.         be used simultaneously.  All records, updates, pre-
  466.         dictions, bets and results are stored separately and
  467.         can be saved to disk or sent to the printer at any time.
  468.         This demo version is supplied with a very basic manual
  469.         and is completely functional except for data input.

  473. MPMaster    A useful MIDI program that enables to transmit/receive
  474.         samples via MIDI between the Amiga and any MIDI device
  475.         that supports the MIDI Sample Dump Standard format (such
  476.         as the Yamaha SY85 synthesizer).  It has a WorkBench
  477.         interface, can play samples and all settings of the sample
  478.         can be modified before transmission.  Includes a circuit
  479.         to build a very small MIDI interface.  Distributed in two
  480.         languages: English and Spanish.  Requires WorkBench 2.04
  481.         or higher.  Version 1.2, binary only, freeware.

  1167.         universe map and to defend it from other civilizations by

  1187.         shows you the results by way of white and black circles.

  1532. AudioScope    AudioScope is a real-time audio spectrum analyzer for the
  1533.         Amiga which uses a 512 point Fast Fourier Transform (FFT)
  1534.         to process audio data received through your audio digitizer.
  1535.         AudioScope provides a high resolution display of audio
  1536.         signal amplitude vs frequency and can be used to evaluate
  1537.         the frequency content of sounds of all kinds.  This is
  1538.         version 3.0, an update to the original version on disk 543.
  1539.         Now, in addition to the real-time display of signal ampli-
  1540.         tude vs. frequency, a display option providing a continuous
  1541.         scrolling color display of audio signal amplitude vs. time
  1542.         vs. frequency is available.  AudioScope 3.0 requires Amiga-

  1571. VCLI        This is Version 7.04 of Voice Command Line Interface
  1572.         (VCLI).  VCLI will execute CLI commands, ARexx commands,
  1573.         or ARexx scripts by voice command.  VCLI allows you to
  1574.         launch multiple applications or control any program with
  1575.         an ARexx capability entirely by spoken voice command.
  1576.         VCLI is multitasking and will run in the background,
  1577.         listening for your voice command even while other pro-
  1578.         grams may be running.  VCLI also has its own ARexx port
  1579.         so that internal functions and options can be controlled
  1580.         by ARexx command.  This new version fixes a few bugs,
  1581.         plugs a memory leak, improves gadget functions by pro-
  1582.         viding keyboard alternatives, and increases the sensi-
  1583.         tivity of the voice.library recognition functions so
  1584.         that you don't always have to speak so loudly.  Documen-
  1585.         tation is provided for both AmigaGuide and Multiview.
  1586.         This is the fastest and most accurate version of VCLI
  1587.         yet, and it fully supports DSS 8, Perfect Sound 3, Sound
