  8. Sploin is a highly configurable file splitter and joiner. Can extract any
  9. number of bytes from anywhere in a file, separate a file in two (with header
  10. skiping), split a file in smaller ones (specifying the number of chunks or the
  11. size of each) with optional auto-truncation to MS-DOS 8.3 chars limitation,
  12. and joining with various ways of specifying the files. The major feature is
  13. it's ability to split a big file into smaller ones, and then automatically
  14. joining them together later. Can be compiled on practically all UNIX and VMS
  15. systems (thus ideal for bringing home huge archives freshly FTPed).
