ABOUT SOURCE OBJECTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Before we start, I want you to know what mountains I moved. The entire ship
consist of some 130,668 polygons, and was rendered on a 10Mb A3000 (with
Motorola 68030 and 68882).
The first collection allready impressed people by the stunning complexity of
my own-made object. For some reason, I was not able to have nice sky, and I
had to render the ship in three different parts. I linked the images together
with a painting-program called "TVPaint Junior".
Now I'm back with a vengeance :) No cheating, no painting, just pure raw
3D-rendered art!
The image "BISMARCK_3.JPEG" took some 50 hours to render. "BISMARCK_4.JPEG"
took some 45 hours to render. "BISMARCK_5.JPEG" is a set of four images.
These were all 'scanlined', which means that the computer does not have to
trace the reflectives on the water. It took some xx hours for all the four of
them.
As you see, this work deserves some respect, like programmers get. If you
want to give this respect, please stick to the Freeware rules I set up.

ABOUT SWASTIKA
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why did I show the Swastika? Because we CAN NOT forget what these seamen
fought and died for.
2000 on Bismarck - 114 survivors
1400 on Hood - 3 survivors
Please, don't come bothering me about neo-nazism. I DO know something like
honour.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
TO BE HONEST
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although I didn't allow myself to make any mistakes, there's something you
should know:
Although I wanted to modell the Bismarck very detailed without worying about
computer-generated results, I had to skip some things. The fences are one of
those. Those fences would seriously disturb my images, so I just left them
out. I left out the wires between the masts for the same reason.
Second, I must admit I was too louzy to modell the parts underneath the sea.
The rudders (2) and the screws (3) that is. But the sea is a beautifull
alternative.
Third: No chains for the anchor. Although I attempted to include them, they
reached about 50,000 triangles. I allready pushed my computer to her maximum
without those chains.
You should also know, that I use the "raytracing"-technique to visualize
things out of the real world, and represent them as realistic as possible.
The advantage is colors: the ship looks better in my images then she did in
1941. Disadvantage is: shapes. Although you can get some pretty good results,
objects will NEVER look like its original. If I would zoom in extremely into
this ship, you would notice that very well.
But I don't think you would be angry for that, or would you? =:*]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
ABOUT ENTIRE SHIP
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Bismarck you're seeing in the images, is the one you would have seen from
the 18th to the 20th of may 1941.
Those days, Bismarck was on a manoeuvre called "Operation Rheinübung".
Bismarck had to pass the strait of Danmark, where the ship would have been
visible from the land for quite a long time. Bismarck was accompanied by
Prinz Eugen and a few German destroyers. The camouflage like in the images,
was meant to fool eye-witnesses.
After Bismarck and Prinz Eugen left Grimmstadtfjord near Bergen the 21st of
may 1941, the black&white stripes were painted over, the fake bows remained.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
SEA
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Although Bismarck operated on the Atlantic Ocean, the sea in the images don't
look like the Atlantic Ocean. This sea looks like the one of Jamaica, or like
a swimming pool.
Nevertheless, enjoy this nice effect of water.

THE END
