This main residence on the Bow Valley Ranch near Calgary indicates the living standard to which many of the ranch establishment were accustomed. A large, properly managed ranch could promise very attractive returns, and fortunes were made in the cattle business.
This home was built in 1896 for William Roper Hull, prominent rancher and meat-packer. In 1902 the ranch was purchased by Patrick Burns, another well-known rancher and meat-packer. With the addition of a new wing in 1957, this grand home remains the focal point of the still existing, Bow Valley Ranch.
