By the 1920s much of the intense hostility between the dominant majority group and the ethnic minorities had begun to dissipate. This does not mean that ethnic tension disappeared for it flared up again in the hard times of the Depression. But it had eased to the point where some of the various groups were invited to participate in public events in the city, such as this outdoor pageant. In the photograph, members of the Canadian-Ukrainian Committee are representing some of the activities of their group literature, music, painting, etc. Note the complete absence of identifiable ethnic costumes on this occasion.
