StitchView 1.5 Demo
README.DOC
Last Updated June 19, 1995
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for trying StitchView! StitchView is very easy to use,
but please refer to STITCHVW.DOC for information on installing and
using the StitchView Demo.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This demonstration has most of the features of the full version. The
main limitation is that the demonstration does not allow you to print
the designs. The full version allows you to print designs in several
formats including a format for .PCD designs which matches the size
and format of a Creative Designer Programming Sheet. The full version
also imports and exports designs in the text format used to exchange
designs on Prodigy and other online services.
The full version of StitchView with a manual is available from Roger
Smith Software for $15 plus $2.50 for shipping and handling (Florida
residents please add 6% sales tax). Send a check or money order to:
Roger Smith Sofware
P.O. Box 3745
Winter Springs, FL 32708
Please specify 3.5" or 5.25" disk size.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The follow section describes the changes from version 1.2:
StitchView now reads PC Designer for Windows format files.
The Save As window allows you to convert designs between
PCD and PCQ formats. Designs 9mm or less in width may be
saved as PCD designs even if they were loaded as PCQ designs.
Any design may be saved as a PCQ design.
The "text" of a design may be copied to the Windows clipboard
and pasted into another program. The text is in the format commonly
used by Prodigy users to exchange designs.
Text in the clipboard my be pasted into StitchView. StitchView
uses its Import utility to decode designs in the clipboard text.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Also included with StitchView are a few stitch files:
BALLON.PCQ - A cartoon-like balloon (binary)
CHICKEN.PCQ - A chicken leg (binary)
RSLOGO.PCD - The Roger Smith Software Logo (binary)
USCREAM.PCQ - An Ice Cream Bar (binary)
BALLON1.PCQ - A cartoon-like balloon (text)
CHICKEN1.PCQ - A chicken leg (text)
RSLOGO1.PCD - The Roger Smith Software Logo (text)
USCREAM1.PCQ - An Ice Cream Bar (text)
These stitch files are included as a demonstration of StitchView. Some
of the designs (especially in the chicken leg) may not stitch well on the
sewing machine.

Carla Lopez has a collection of designs available the package
consists of a disk of over 30 digitized stitches ready to load
into the machine. The modules are flower parts: 13 bud halves,
12 vines, stems or scrolls, 5 leaves (2 with stems, 1 small, and
2 half size). Also included are 3 large multidirectional
stitches: a rosebud 66mm X 19 mm, a leaf with a loopy stylized
stem 60 mm X 36 mm, a vine with 2 leaves 58 mm X 28 mm. There are
scrolls that are easily entered into an M memory, or combined to
make flower stems or very large borders. A little booklet with
graphics of each stitch showing the default and maximum stitch
length and a few other details is included with the disk. The
booklet is very small so as to fit easily in the hand, or it can
be placed close to the machine while sewing and carried around
easily. There are only 8 pages with the cover and back making
the total 12. Registered users will be able to get upgrades and
online support and at least 4 design sheets will be mailed in the
next year. For the design disks send a check or money order for
$27.50 (US) made out to Carla Lopez to:

If you have created some designs yourself which you would like
to share with other "Pfaffies" please join the conferences on
America Online or Prodigy. StitchView's "Copy Text" and "Paste"
options of the Edit menu make it easy to exchange designs in
messages.
You're also welcome to submit your creations to us to be included
with the next version of StitchView. Although there's no legal
reason for us not to include public domain designs from, for
example, the Prodigy collection, we don't want to include any
designs without the permission of the artist.
If you are marketing your designs, send us a brief description of
your product and we'll mention it this "Readme" file. You may also
wish to include a sample which we can distribute with StitchView.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
StitchView Demo is a copyrighted program. Since it is a demo of the
full commercial version of StitchView, it may be uploaded to any BBS
or online service as long as the complete, unmodified, program is
included. Use of the StitchView Demo is governed by the license
agreement in STITCHVW.DOC.

Notes
The meaning of "Normal" and "Full" when displaying a design
differs slightly from the meaning when printing the design.
When displayed in Normal mode, the design is scaled so that the
entire height of the design fits in the display area.
When displayed in Full mode, the design is scaled so the entire
width of the design fits in the display area.
When printed in Normal mode, the design is scaled so that the
entire height of the design fits in the 3" tall print area.
When printed in Full mode, the design is scaled so that the entire
width of the design fits in the print area and the height of the
print area is increased so that the entire height of the design fits
in it.
