PREREQUISITES: None. DOS experience recommended.
CATALOG DESCRIPTION: An advanced certification course in NetWare
system administration, installation, troubleshooting, and related
technologies. An in-depth study of the Architectures, Topologies,
and Protocols which combine to create the LAN platform, and the
3.12 Operating Systems which control network functionality.
Communications within and between LANs will stress the relationships
of servers, gateways, and communication media. This course satisfies
Novell's Certified NetWare Engineer certification.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE:
a. Command an advanced vocabulary of NetWare LANs.
b. Develop an in-depth understanding of the Local Area Network
Design.
c. Learn to Analyze and Design leading LAN topology standards.
d. Command the blueprint for Configuring and Installing NetWare.
e. Develop NetWare Administration strategies.
f. Develop and Implement NetWare troubleshooting techniques.
g. Command advanced Networking Technologies.
METHODS OF INSTRUCTION:
3 hours of reading/lecture per week, 3 hours of unsupervised lab
per week. Additionally, students will be required to complete 7
certification exams and selected homework projects. All labs and
questions/answers will occur on-line.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: This course emphasizes the marriage of
creative management and network technology. The student will be
asked to integrate the functions of the left brain (Computer Science)
and the right brain (Learning). I challenge each one of you to step
just beyond the basics of Computer Science, and try something
creatively courageous.
