  1. A special CD-ROM has been included with The CNE Study Guide 
  2. to enhance and support your NetWare education. Inside you 
  3. will find four exciting surprises. Let's take a closer look.

  5. THE CLARKE TESTS
  6.  
  7. With help from LANimation and LearningWare, I have developed 
  8. a whole new way of studying for CNE tests. The Clarke Tests 
  9. is Windows-based software that offers more than just sample 
  10. test questions. It is an interactive learning system! In 
  11. addition to valuable CNE test questions, the software offers 
  12. interactive clues, multimedia sound and graphics, page 
  13. references to Novell-authorized courseware, and various study 
  14. paths. But the real stars are the interactive answers. Each 
  15. question includes a full page or more of explanation and 
  16. study material--just what the CNE doctor ordered. Nine courses 
  17. are covered, including the core six from this book, and the 
  18. popular NetWare 3.1x to 4.x Update course. These challenging 
  19. test questions and interactive answers are an invaluable study 
  20. tool for passing the Certified Novell Engineer exams. Give them 
  21. a try.

  23. Refer to the README.CLK file for installation instructions. It can 
  24. be found in the D:\CNE\CLARKE subdirectory on the CD-ROM. Begin 
  25. Microsoft Windows and choose File -> Run. Then type D:\CNE\CLARKE\SETUP
  26. in the input window and click OK. Note: If your CD-ROM drive 
  27. letter is something other than D, type in that letter instead. 
  28. Once the demo of the Clarke tests has been installed, you can walk 
  29. through the interactive testing system using the special tutorial 
  30. program. It's never been so easy to study. Remember, the Clarke 
  31. tests are just a learning tool for the actual Drake certification 
  32. exams. They are not the real CNE tests.

  34. MICRO HOUSE TECHNICAL LIBRARY
  35.  
  36. The Micro House Technical Library is a comprehensive technical 
  37. database with a built-in search engine. It includes diagrams and 
  38. documentation concerning PC hardware; coverage of numerous 
  39. manufacturers' products; a directory of manufacturers; reference 
  40. material and troubleshooting information; and illustrated glossaries 
  41. of terms. The Micro House Technical Library demonstration program 
  42. on the CD-ROM displays random data samples, and some features are 
  43. disabled; the CD-ROM also contains the full version of the IO Cards 
  44. Library, which is not a demonstration and is not disabled.

  46. To run the Micro House Technical Library demonstration, run Windows 
  47. and choose File -> Run from Program Manager. Then type 
  48. D:\MTL\DEMOS\CDDEMO.EXE, substituting your CD-ROM drive letter for D if 
  49. necessary. Then click on OK or press Enter to run the demonstration.

  51. To run the IO Cards Library, run Windows and choose File -> Run 
  52. from Program Manager. Then type D:\MTL\MH.EXE, substituting 
  53. your CD-ROM drive letter for D if necessary. Then click on OK or press 
  54. Enter to run the program.

  56. To run the DrivePro demonstration, from DOS, make your CD-ROM drive 
  57. the current drive, change to the \DEMOS directory, type DPDEMO, 
  58. and press Enter.

  60. WIRERIP
  61.  
  62. WireRIP is the graphical user interface for World Wire. World Wire 
  63. is a new, exciting on-line service specifically designed for 
  64. networking professionals. It includes technical information, 
  65. downloadable files, forums, and an on-line shopping mall. But the 
  66. feature that sets it apart is the on-line lab. The World Wire LAB 
  67. gives you full access to NetWare 2.2, 3.12, and 4.1 servers. You 
  68. can complete CNE exercises, try out new management configurations, 
  69. or just get comfortable with NetWare's many command-line and menu 
  70. utilities. WireRIP uses a menu-driven interface with built-in 
  71. phone directories and support for almost all modems. In addition, 
  72. WireRIP was specially designed to optimize performance in the World 
  73. Wire LAB. Refer to the D:\CNE\README.CNE file for installation 
  74. instructions.

  76. MCAFEE VIRUS PROTECTION

  78. Throughout this book, we will explore the deadly nature of computer 
  79. viruses. More than once, we will discuss strategies for preventing 
  80. and destroying them. One of the best solutions is provided by 
  81. McAfee Associates, the leader in virus-protection technology. In 
  82. order to save your LAN from infection, we have included McAfee's 
  83. latest workstation and server virus-prevention products on the 
  84. CD-ROM. It's up to you to use them. Refer to the D:\CNE\README.CNE 
  85. file for installation instructions. Also, there are McAfee documentation 
  86. files in the VIRUS subdirectory. Refer to these text files for more
