  7.     And you thought airline food couldn't get any worse? The
  8. cholera epidemic in South America has touched Los Angeles; at
  9. least 39 passengers and crew members who arrived last month on
  10. an Aerolineas Argentinas flight from Buenos Aires have come
  11. down with the disease; one died. Los Angeles health officials,
  12. who are still trying to locate other passengers, suspect that
  13. airline meals taken on at a stop in Lima were tainted. Other
  14. major carriers now are taking special precautions. While
  15. American Airlines has eliminated green salads and fresh seafood
  16. from its South American menus, Varig copes by loading its planes
  17. with extra food from safer sources in Brazil, Chile and
  18. Argentina.
