  8. unintelligibly." And all with such flair that BRENDAN FRASER
  9. beat out 125 auditioning Cro-Magnons to star in Encino Man. "I
  10. fashioned my movements and energy after a dog I once knew." His
  11. role in School Ties, due this fall, was less of a stretch.
  12. Fraser, who attended an elite Canadian boarding school, plays
  13. an athlete at an American prep school in the 1950s who faces
  14. prejudice because he is Jewish. He recalls his own alienation
  15. as a student. "I was intimidated rooming with the sons of
  16. Cabinet members and the Prime Minister," he said. "They all
  17. wanted to become politicians. I wanted to be an actor." So much
  18. for popularity polls.
