  7.     THING was stressed out. The beloved pet hand of the Addams
  8. family was flailing around, struggling to speak with household
  9. patriarch Gomez in sign language. "Slow down, it's terrible when
  10. you stutter," quipped Gomez. When Paramount used this scene from
  11. last year's flick in a commercial to promote this week's
  12. home-video release, a stutterers' organization fired off a
  13. complaint. "This is no joke to people who have this problem,"
  14. said Ira Zimmerman. "It doesn't help to say, `Slow down.' It
  15. only makes us more nervous." Apparently, that's how Paramount
  16. felt too. The home-video division apologized -- and dropped the
  17. ad.
