  8. it. But a can of roughage wasn't much use to the muscle-bound
  9. mariner last week against a foe more powerful than Bluto -- a
  10. skittish distributor. "I was trying to do a comic strip where
  11. Popeye and Olive Oyl cope with the problems of the modern
  12. world," says BOBBY LONDON, writer and illustrator of the daily
  13. Popeye strip for the past six years. When London drew two
  14. comical clergymen who mistakenly believed Popeye's anorexic
  15. amour was contemplating an abortion, the King Features Syndicate
  16. was popeyed. It dropped two weeks' worth of Popeye panels -- and
  17. London. The reaction brings to mind another Popeye associate:
