CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL

The previous screen shows 2
typical brake master cylinders.
They can be either plastic or cast
iron . . . depending on the maker.
They can have one heavy bale wire on
the top or more than one. Some of
the later models can have screw-on
tops. You will have to find the one
applicable for your car. The heavy
bale wire can be pried open with a
screw driver. Make certain there is
no dirt on the top when you open it.

The level of the fluid should be
about one-half of an inch below the
top of the cylinder. If it falls
below that repeatedly, you have a
problem with leaking cylinders which
must be repaired. Look around the
master cylinder for leakage. If not
there, one or more of your wheel
cylinders are probably leaking. You
will have to have someone look into
it. Be sure to maintain the proper
fluid level until you do fix them.
