  4.       Coaster  brake  and  3-speed
  5. hubs are usually adjusted the same
  6. as front hubs.
  7.       On most  coaster brakes, you
  8. must  make the  adjustment on  the
  9. right hand side.
  10.       A Sturmey-Archer  hub with a
  11. little  indicator  chain,  must be
  12. adjusted only on  the left side of
  13. the  hub.  if   your  bike  has  a
  14. Shimano  3-speed  with  the lever,
  15. you must  adjust only the  cone on
  16. the right side of the hub.

  20.      On derailleur type bikes, you
  21. need to take  the freewheel off to
  22. adjust  the cones.  You'll need  a
  23. specific remover for your brand of
  24. freewheel.   Insert   the  remover
  25. fully.  If  it  is  the  type with
  26. prongs,  screw  the  axle  nut  or
  27. quick   release  skewer   back  on
  28. loosely  to  keep  the  tool  from
  29. slipping.  Grab the  remover in  a
  30. vise  or with  a large  wrench and
  31. unscrew it counter-clockwise (like
  32. a jar lid). It may be quite tight.
  33.      Putting the freewheel back on
  34. is much easier.  Just screw it on,
  35. but carefully, don't cross-thread.
