- This is my port of the 386BSD syslog facility. I've been
- using it without a hitch for quite a while. It uses a named
- pipe for sending local messages instead of a unix domain
- socket (which are not fully implemented in linux).

- The "selling point" of this version of syslog is that it
- does NOT require that you have a network, or even that the
- network code is compiled into the kernel. Of course, it
- works fine with a network too.
