HSMODEM
The programme diskette contains an auto-folder with a part of the serial drive
HSMODAO4 by Harun Scheutzow. We included only the absolute necessary part of
the extensive programme package so as not to confuse the less
technical interested customer.
The complete package contains more drivers for hardware extensions, detailed
descriptions of the individual drivers, documentation for programmers and a
setter-programme for configuration of the driver.
You can receive the package from every good mailbox as HSMODAO4.LZH or directly
from Harun Scheutzow by sending a formated 3.5" blank disk with stamped
addressed envelope or against payment of DM 10.

This package contains serial drivers. There is an individual driver for every
port or every port building block. The user therefore has got the trouble with
choosing the matching drivers, but also the advantage to load only drivers he
needs.
It has become necessary to use a serial driver because of the necessary data
transfer rate for the voice part >19200 Baud. The operating system has got no
routines available for this. Furthermore is the operating system routine in
TOS.3.06 unfortunately still erroneous.
Main part is the programme DRVIN.PRG, which has to be in the auto-file of every
computer. The driver module for the used interface has to be loaded depending on
the existing port.
ST, STE, Meag ST: MFP.PRG
Mega STE/TT: MFP.PRG + SCC.PRG
Falcon: SCC.PRG
How to install HSMODEM in the auto-folder
Please select the correct driver according to the type of computer. Please pay
special attention to the order of the programme in the auto-file.
The main programme DRVIN.PRG should be at the far back (but in front of the
drivers) due to reasons of speed. DRVIN.PRG and the drivers should be located in
the front of programmes installed in the auto-folder which are to be used by the
drivers. Otherwise there will be error messages or nice little explosions.
It is easy to identify the sequence with the TOS from version 2.0 or a relevant
shell by having the output of the index unsorted. The necessary entry can be
found in the pulldown menu "extras" of the ATARI desktop.
For older versions of TOS all programmes have to be copied from the folder AUTO
into a different index to ensure that the auto-folder is empty. Afterwards the
programmes are to be copied back into the desired index.
operation diagram for installation
This paragraph describes the installation under TOS and MagiC! shortly and
hopefully understandably. This should be taken as programme and "worked" from
front to back.
1. Should you have a programme in \AUTO\ folder that uses the serial interface
you have to copy it out.
2. Remove installed patch programmes from the \AUTO\ for the serial interface,
like RS23ENC, TURBOCTS,SERIALFX.
3. Choose the drivers you need from this package. First copy DRVIN.PRG into the
\AUTO\folder, then copy the chosen driver afterwards. The sequence of the
drivers is not important.
The installation is now finished. Boot the computer new and call up the
programme or acessory CoMa. The entry "HSModem" should appear in the fax
parameterbox, this means the installation was successful.
We would like to say thank you to Harun for providing the HSMODEM free of
charge. Without this the voice module from CoMa would not have been possible on
8-MHz computers as well as the back ground procession for fax.
