└──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
The following information is provided to help in understanding the
requirements and limits in U.S. Navy Fighters.
┌──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│▒▒▒ Installation ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│

To install the DEMO version of USNF, log to the drive containing the
CD-ROM, and type CD\USNFDEMO. Then type INSTALL and follow the directions
given. You must leave the CD-ROM containing the demo in the CD-ROM drive
or USNF will not run.
To run the demo, log to the hard drive where you installed the demo, and
type USNF. Follow the configuration instructions. We recommend you print
out this READ.ME file as a keyboard reference.
This demo contains only a small portion of the full game. To get a feel
for USNF, run the program and use you mouse to select different sections of
the game. There is only one section of the game that allows flying. To
get there, select START NEW CAMPAIGN. Start a new pilot, and listen to the
briefing. You can then read the details about the mission, and select a
plane, outfit it with the weapons of your choice, and begin combat. The
mission we have selected is one of the more difficult missions, and
contains air and ground targets. Have fun.

If USNF locks up or reboots before you see any logo or title screens...
The PharLap DOS extender we use in USNF is not compatible with every type
of BIOS ROM shadowing. If you cannot load USNF, you should turn off
"Hidden Refresh", "ROM Shadowing", and "Video Shadowing" in your CMOS
Advanced Chipset settings. Commonly you must hold down the "Delete" or
"F1" during the boot cycle to access the CMOS setup utility. If you're
using RAMBIOS.SYS, you must remove it from your CONFIG.SYS. This problem
is often manifested by a "Failed to load" some file. This does not mean
any files iare missing, but that the ROM shadowing is conflicting with the
PharLap DOS extender, which is preventing files from loading properly.
Also make sure you have a mouse driver loaded. (Just because Microsoft
Windows works with your mouse does not mean you have a mouse driver
loaded. Windows does not require a mouse driver, it has its own.)
