  1. MUS:The 'ROCK' online international magazine looks for a writer
  2.  
  3.    GUIDELINES FOR WRITERS
  4.  
  5.    *PURPOSE*: Like the Psalm featured: Ps.  61:2 - "Lead me to the rock
  6. that is higher than I", this is the purpose of >THE 'ROCK' ON-LINE
  7. INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE<.  Thus, all articles should bring honor and
  8. glory to God through Jesus Christ and should be aimed at bringing the
  9. reader closer to God.
  10.  
  11.    THE 'ROCK' ON-LINE INTERNATIONAL is a multi/non-denominational
  12. Christian music magazine featuring comtemporary, middle of the road
  13. traditional, gospel, and inspirational music; as well as testimonies
  14. and fellowship.
  15.  
  16.    *PROCEDURE & POLICY*: Query first. Not responsible for unsolicited
  17. manuscripts. All hard copy manuscripts should be accompanied by a
  18. self-addressed stamped envelope.  For online submissions, unless your
  19. Bulletin Board System does NOT carry netmail or private mail, please
  20. upload your articles/ideas in private mail and in ASCII.  Please
  21. include your name, the name and telephone # of the BBS you are calling
  22. from, and the net/node number if applicable.  ++ THE 'ROCK' ON-LINE
  23. INTERNATIONAL reserves the right to edit or abridge any manuscript for
  24. layout/space purposes.  It also reserves the right not to print an
  25. article if there is any question of its authenticity.  All work
  26. submitted must be original and non-published elsewhere.  The writer
  27. affirms that he/she is the sole and true author of the article.

  29.    *PAYMENT*: No payment, however you will receive a 'hard copy' of the
  30. magazine that contains your article upon request.
  31.  
  32.    *AUDIENCE*: Our audience consists of secular and non-secular music
  33. enthusiasts of all ages.  When writing, write for an audience that
  34. might be familiar with CCM as well as those who might not.
  35.  
  36.    *FORMAT/MAGAZINE CONTENTS*: Areas open for articles include -
  37.  
  38.    IN MY OPINION: Letter's to the editor type of personal editorial. 
  39. "Think pieces" (thought-provoking articles) are welcomed, controversy
  40. is not.
  41.  
  42.    RECORD/VIDEO REVIEWS: Maximum length per review: 1000 words.  Rate
  43. lp/video in brackets as either [fair], [good], [very good],
  44. [excellent].  We work on the principle that no CCM is ever really
  45. 'poor', but if that be the case, the rating is [poor] (If you such a
  46. rating, make sure you back it up with good reasons).  Last line of
  47. review should read: BEST CUTS: fllowed by at least one or two songs. 
  48. Give 'tone' or 'classification' of lp i.e. jazz, heavy metal, etc. (see
  49. issue for format). Also add the name of record label, i.e. (Sparrow).

  51.    SHARING THE FAITH: Testimony written in first person ONLY.
  52.  
  53.    SPOTLIGHT ARTIST OF THE MONTH: Biographical feature that spotlights one
  54. artist per issue.
  55.  
  56.    CONCERT REVIEWS: Describe in detail.  Give reader ideas on the
  57. atmosphere of the concert, the audience response. Tell it there was an
  58. altar call or testimony. Include information on the songs sung (old
  59. hits, new songs, etc).  Give overall performance insights and conclude
  60. with your own review of the concert.  If the CCM artist reminds you
  61. (style, singing, etc)-wise of another artist include that info (i.e. 
  62. "At times Steve Curtis Chapman can sound alot like Huey Lewis of Huey
  63. Lewis and the News).  Length 1000 words or check with editor in
  64. individual cases.
