  1. For those of us who wish to improve the
  2. typographic quality output of Macintosh
  3. software that supports auto-kerning,
  4. a great new product is available from
  5. EDCO Services, Inc.

  7. The product is called "LetrTuck".
  8.  
  9. This fine program allows Mac users
  10. to add/change/delete the kern pairs
  11. in the System file screen fonts.
  12.  
  13. Kerning is font specific, i.e. Times 
  14. Roman can have different kern 
  15. values than Palatino, etc, etc.
  16.  
  17. Up to 2000 kern pairs can be defined
  18. per style
  19.  
  20. The unit system used to enter
  21. kern values is user-selectable from
  22. a 10 to 2000 unit EM system. The
  23. kern values will be translated into
  24. the proper PostScript 1000-unit EM
  25. system and reinstalled into the FOND
  26. resource of the font being kerned.

  28. The kern tables can be saved as text
  29. files for backup purposes. As well, the 
  30. text files can be edited and then read
  31. back into LetrTuck to further facilitate 
  32. the kerning process.
