This is documentation for using these BeepInit files.
The file called BEEP.INIT is an init
resource which causes the beep to become the sound stored in the file
BeepSound. To use these files on a MacPlus or 512K enhanced or any other
Mac with the 128K roms, merely move these two files into the system folder
of the boot disk and they will be loaded automatically. To use these files
on a non 128K ROM machine, install the BEEP.INIT file into the system file
using the resource editor. The first of these methods takes advantage of
the fact that the new ROMS allow INIT files with the proper creator and
type to be run as if they were installed into the system file.
The result of this hard work is that whenever a sysbeep occurs, a fun
phrase from the Dire Straits song, 'Money for Nothin' is played instead.
Enjoy.
