  7.                         Landscape Plant Manager Version 1.xx

  9.           Thank you for obtaining a copy of the Landscape Plant Manager.  I
  10.           hope the program will be of use to you in your work.
  11.  
  12.           The Landscape Plant Manager is a plant selection program
  13.           developed for use by students in ornamental horticulture
  14.           curriculums, members of the landscape industry and homeowners.
  15.           Through various menus within the program, one can store and
  16.           retrieve information on plants used in the landscape.  The main
  17.           feature of the Landscape Plant Manager is the ability to find
  18.           plants in a data file based on 1 to 24 different criteria
  19.           including such characteristics as form, height, spread and
  20.           hardiness zone.  Depending on memory and disk storage capacity, a
  21.           Landscape Plant Manager data file can hold from 500 to 5000
  22.           different landscape plants.

  24.           This shareware software currently requires an IBM PC or true
  25.           compatible computer with a minimum of 128 kilobytes of memory and
  26.           one 360 kilobyte floppy disk drive. A memory capacity of 256
  27.           kilobytes or larger is preferred with a hard disk or 3.5" floppy.

  29.           If you do find the program useful, I hope you can make a donation
  30.           to the OHT/Biology development fund.  Your donation will go
  31.           towards the purchase of sorely needed hardware and software for
  32.           use in teaching and training our students about computer
  33.           technology and use in horticulture. Some of the money will also
  34.           be used to further enhance the Landscape Plant Manager and to
  35.           develop other programs for use in the landscape industry.

  37.           To use the Landscape Plant Manager, please make a copy of the
  38.           original disk and use the copy.  Please consult your Disk
  39.           Operating System manual on copy procedures.  To avoid problems
  40.           and copyright infringement, the LPM distribution disk does not
  41.           have a copy of the disk operating system.  The disk can be made
  42.           self booting by installing DOS on your copy disk before
  43.           transferring the LPM files to the copy disk.

  45.           The following files should be on your disk:

  47.           LPMREAD.ME  This file you are currently reading.
  48.           LPMREAD.ME2 A list of current updates and notes.
  49.           LPM.BAT     A batch file to start LPM.
  50.           LPMxxx.COM  The LPM main program.  Needs LPMxxx.000 to run.
  51.           LPMxxx.000  The LPM library.  Needs LPMxxx.COM to run.
  52.           LPMDEMO.DAT LPM demonstration data file. Needs index files.
  53.           LPMDEMO.SIX Index to the LPM demonstration data file.
  54.           LPMDEMO.CIX Index to the LPM demonstration data file.
  55.           LPMMAN.TXT  The LPM manual.

  57.           If any of these files are missing, you can request a complete set
  58.           of files from the author by sending a disk with prepaid return
  59.           mailer.

  73.           To print the manual, type the command: PRINT LPMMAN.TXT or TYPE
  74.           LPMMAN.TXT>PRN

  76.           The full manual is approximately 60 pages long.

  78.           You can also view the manual on the screen by typing: TYPE
  79.           LPMMAN.TXT then use Ctrl-S to temporarily halt scrolling and
  80.           Ctrl-Break to stop scrolling.

  82.           To run the Landscape Plant Manager, the following files must be
  83.           present on the same disk or in the same directory:

  85.                   LPMxxx.COM  The core program
  86.                   LPMxxx.000  Additional program segments
  87.  
  88.           'xxx' is the current version number.  Both numbers must match
  89.           inorder to run the program.
  90.  
  91.           At the prompt type: LPM to start the batch file or LPMxxx to
  92.           directly run the program.
  93.  
  94.           Any files ending in .DAT, .CIX, .SIX are demonstration data
  95.           files.

  97.           Please consult the manual for further information.

  99.           The LPM program and related files are distributed under
  100.           shareware, please respect those concepts. Thank you.
