  1.           VENTURA PUBLISHER 3.0 WINDOWS 11/90 PATCH
  2.  
  3. The following problems in Ventura Publisher 3.0 Windows have been
  4. identified and corrected. 
  5.  
  6.    * Scalable screen fonts displayed as bitmapped fonts, e.g.     
  7.      Adobe ATM and Lasermaster GS1280 Outline Font Monitor.
  8.  
  9.    * Restrictions on several users using unique packages to run   
  10.      on local drives while attached to the same local area        
  11.      network.
  12.  
  13.    * Solid rules within 3/4" of the edge of the page printed as   
  14.      shades of gray on the Hewlett Packard Laser Jet family of    
  15.      printers.
  16.  
  17.    * Spot color overlays printed on HP/PCL printers on certain    
  18.      occasions with 3/4" black squares at the upper left corner   
  19.      of the page.     
  20.  
  21.    * Hyphenation problems with words greater than 32 characters   
  22.      in length and words containing certain accented characters
  23.  
  24.  
  25. Additional modifications have also been made.
  26.  
  27.    * The kerning pair buffer is increased. 
  28.  
  29.    * The font buffer is increased from 512 to 3071 entries.
  30.  
  31.    * Fonts found in both the .WFN and .UP files are now           
  32.      displayed.
  33.  
  34.    * Additional font names and id numbers have been added to the  
  35.      look up table and duplicates have been deleted.
  36.  
  37.    * Keyboard shortcuts for the European version keyboard were    
  38.      added.
  39.  
  40. If you are experiencing any of the problems you may download the
  41. patch from CompuServe or call Ventura Software customer service
  42. at 800-822-8221 and request the "Ventura Windows 11/90 Patch." 
  43.  
  44. The patch is expected to be available for shipping after December
  45. 1, 1990. Ventura Publisher Windows users with Support agreements
  46. will automatically receive the patch by mail when manufacturing
  47. is complete.

  49. This patch may be freely distributed to licensed Ventura
  50. Publisher users.
  51.  
  52. You do not need these files if the .DLL files in your directory
  53. are dated after 7/30/90. After this date the modifications are
  54. included.
  55.  
  56. In its downloadable form, the patch is in a self extracting file
  57. which when run will expand to contain the following files:
  58.  
  59.    * README.TXT
  60.    * VPWINLIB.DLL
  61.    * WFNTLOOK.UP
  62.    * VPWINNET.DLL
  63.    * WHMIFF.WH1
  64.  
  65. Copy these files into your \VENTURA subdirectory. They will
  66. overwrite and replace files of the same name with an earlier
  67. creation date. They do not constitute an executable copy of
  68. Ventura Publisher.

  70. Delete the USER.WFT file in your \VENTURA subdirectory
  71.  
  72. Be sure to run any application that modifies your WFNTLOOK.UP
  73. again after you replace it with the patched file e.g.
  74. Lasermaster. 
  75.  
  76. To run Ventura Publisher on your local drive while attached to a
  77. LAN you should not install your serial number as a Network Node
  78. Seat.
