Following files are part of this Freeware font:
INTERTTH.TTF
README.TXT (this file)
FILE_ID.DIZ (short description for mailboxes)
This is a scaleable computer font designed after the language shown in
comics published by DC Comics Inc.: "Legion of Super-Heroes" (LSH) and
"Legionnaires".
INSTALLATION:
This is a fully scaleable TrueType fonts for use with Microsoft
Windows 3.1 (and higher) or IBM OS/2-2.1 (or higher). Please refer to
your Operating System manual for instructions to install this TrueType
font.
If you need Adobe Type1 PostScript fonts for your computer (as used by
IBM, Commodore Amiga and Atari computers) please use the fully
scaleable Interlac PostScript Type1 font by the same author.
If you need an Interlac font for Apple Macintosh computers, please
use the conversion of my font by Joe Sewell (CompuServe ID:74136,360)
available in the comic books library of the CompuServe Network
(GO COMICS).
HISTORY:
"The designated language of the United Planets is Interlac, based on
the Terran English with liberal additions from other Terran languages.
In its most basic form the symbols of the language correspond perfectly
to the twenty-six letters of the English language; the numbering system
corresponds to Earth Base-Ten form. As the official U.P. language,
Interlac is thought in schools throughout the system and is the common
form of communication between most sentient United Planet races."
(after "Who's Who in the Legion of Super-Heroes #1" - DC Comics 1988)
I made subtle changes to the original designs for esthetical reasons
since this language was never really "intended" by the Legion of
Super-Heroes artists to be used as computer font.
I wanted to include the monitor board symbols of the Legion members but
this was not workable because of the complexity of the signs. But as a
bonus I have added the symbol of "Superboy" (char.#236), "Lightning Lad"
(char.#237), "Cosmic Boy" (char.#238) and "Saturn Girl" (char.#239).
On PC's these characters can be accessed via the pressing the "ALT" key
and the character numbers on the external numerical pad (MS Windows users
have to type a "0" before the character number). However, in the PostScript
Type1 version of this font I was able to add 25 more Legionnaire monitor
board symbols.
Look for various Public Domain Legionnaire symbols in icon-form by
other authors for a complete list.
This is the second time I created an Interlac font because the first
version (created in August 1993) had "solid" characters (unlike this
font which is "hollow", just like in the original comic design).
NOTE:
The INTERLAC font is expressly released as "Freeware" - you are under no
obligation to remit any fee for its continued use. If you like it, keep it!
Enjoy! Share it freely with your friends! I do ask that you distribute this
INTERLAC font together with this README.TXT textfile. Please contact me if
you want to make any changes.
I welcome feedback at any time - the best way to reach me is by leaving me
CompuServe mail (ID: 100143,3316), or sending hardcopy mail to the address
shown above.
DISCLAIMER:
I can not guaranty that these files will work with your computer
configuration (although the font worked perfectly on all the computers
I could get my hand on).
However, even if you encounter problems, there is actually no possibility
that these files could harm your hardware or software in any way!
If you don't like the font you can delete it by removing the files anytime
without difficulties.
