  3.         INTRODUCTION AND QUICK-START INSTRUCTIONS:
  4.  
  5. If you are reading this file, you apparently have already
  6. "unzipped" the compressed archive file, which contains
  7. new Wall $treet Raider version 6.0.
  8.  
  9. To install Wall $treet Raider on your hard disk, create a
  10. directory of any name (\WSR suggested) on your hard disk,
  11. and copy all of the unzipped files into that directory.
  12. Then, from that directory, simply type "WSR" (or "RAIDER")
  13. and press the <ENTER> key to start the program.   See
  14. the USERINFO.DOC text file for information about using
  15. the program and registering.
  16.  
  17. Each time you start a new game, the program asks you if you
  18. want to automatically print out a registration form with
  19. your printer.  To register, simply print out the form, check
  20. the items you wish to order, and mail to the address on the
  21. registration form, along with your check or money order.
  22. (Additional charge for shipping outside U.S.-Canada -- $5.00
  23. U.S.  NOTE:  We can only accept checks payable in U.S. or
  24. Canadian dollars, drawn on U.S. or Canadian banks.)  Or call

  26. which accepts credit card orders/registrations for us.

  28. SOME OF THE NEW FEATURES IN THIS UPDATE:
  29.  
  30.   . Unlike prior shareware versions, the "cheat mode" feature
  31.     is now activated, the same as in the registered version.
  32.     This includes numerous "ethical choice" scenarios that
  33.     will pop up from time to time, offering you a chance
  34.     to choose between doing the "right thing" or doing
  35.     something sleazy that may be very profitable.  Cheat
  36.     mode also makes a "cheat menu" available, with a number
  37.     of menu commands that allow you to do things like call
  38.     in competitors' loans, or freeze their lines of credit;
  39.     file harassing lawsuits, to drive small competitors,
  40.     who afford stand all the legal costs, out of business;
  41.     start rumor campaigns about a competitor, to drive its
  42.     stock price down; or peek into the details of a bank's
  43.     loan portfolio (even if you don't control the bank).

  45.   . Save and retrieve multiple games, up to 9,999 of them.
  46.  
  47.   . When starting a new game, you can now set the number of
  48.     transactions (maximum) per turn, which can range from 2 to 5.
  49.     The new version works with a CUSTOMIZER Utility program (which
  50.     you will receive if you register for $25), which allows you to
  51.     replace the company names and symbols in the simulation with
  52.     those of your choosing, for example European or Asian companies,
  53.     in place of those that come with the basic version.  The new
  54.     names and symbols will be used in all subsequent games, unless
  55.     you make further changes, or delete the data file (and thus
  56.     return to the original, default names and symbols).

  58.   . The newly-accessible "cheat menu" also includes a name-change
  59.     command, that lets you, during a game, change the name of any
  60.     company you control, to whatever name you desire -- for the
  61.     rest of that game only.

  63.   . Company names and stock symbols have been updated, such as
  64.     to reflect the acquisition of McDonnell-Douglas by Boeing, and
  65.     of Turner Broadcasting by Time-Warner, Inc.
