Short Description:
------------------
This is identical to the version of AT EASE FOR COMPUTER PROGRAMMING
that retailed for $349 and that PCM Magazine called "the most detailed
yet interesting approach to problem solving" they had ever seen. "Any
beginning or advanced programmer could benefit from this system,
whether to write structured code in BASIC, C, Pascal or assembler--or
simply to tap the power of macros in Lotus 1-2-3." They also said At
Ease was "unique," "entertaining," and "fun."

Long Description:
-----------------
The shareware version of At Ease With Computer Programming is identical
to the version that previously sold for $349.00. The following comments
are extracted from the PCM Magazine review of At Ease, March 1991 issue:
"If At Ease With Computer Programming from Synfonics had been my first
course [in computer programming], I would have acquired a positive
outlook on computers much sooner. In the nine years I've been a computer
programmer and user, I've sampled a wide variety of programming texts
and courses. There are as many different approaches to programming as
there are programming languages, but all have one thing in common: They
present you with problems to solve.
At Ease also gives its users problems to solve, but all similarities end
there. Designed for students in grades 12 and up, At Ease is a unique,
graphics-enhanced, menu-driven learning system divided into five sub-
courses: Thinking, Defining, Modeling, Formulating, and Computing. It
begins by introducing helpful concepts on study habits adaptable to any
area that requires good problem-solving strategy.
The authors avoid advocating a particular computer language, instead
choosing pseudocode for examples. Algorithms are presented in such a way
as to be adapted readily into any language, and easy-to-follow examples
show how to do just that. Students work through stories, puzzles and
interactive exercises while learning to analyze problems and come up
with solutions. Designing food for astronauts and landing spacecraft on
the moon are just two of many entertaining problems. At Eases's well-
written, 240-page textbook helps present the most detailed yet
interesting approach to problem solving I have seen. Based on Dominant
Systems'Avalanche Educational accelerated learning technique, no new
concept or idea is presented without being tied to previous material.
The flow of the course from start to end is logical and makes heavy use
of practical examples. Any beginning or advanced programmer could
benefit from this system, whether to write structured code in BASIC,
C, Pascal or assembler -- or simply to tap the power of macros in
Lotus 1-2-3.
It took me approximately a month and a half to work through the course
in my spare time, but more should be allowed to gain the full benefit.
At Ease With Computer Programming is a valuable learning tool for
developing problem-solving skills while having fun at the same time.
