THE WITHDRAWAL OF THE DOSSHELL
Finally, with DOS 6.2, Microsoft realized the futility of
their DOSSHELL. They said they just didn't have enough
room on their disks. I don't blame them. It was a bad
shell.
If you had the DOSSHELL on your hard drive before you
installed the DOS 6.2 Update, or the DOS 6.2 Step-Up,
then you should still have the DOSSHELL on your hard
drive. If you don't have the DOSSHELL, you can order the
DOS 6.2 Supplemental Disks from Microsoft (it is
included). You can write for information: Microsoft MS-
DOS 6.2 Supplemental Disks, P.O. Box 3024, Bothell, WA
98041-3024, USA.
Also, you can download the DOSSHELL for free from their
BBS. It is on the Supplemental Disks. You can download
MS-DOS 6.2 Step-Up on this same BBS. They have plenty of
interesting and helpful files on their BBS. They call
this BBS, the Microsoft Product Support Download Service
(MSDL). The MSDL BBS phone number in the USA is 206-936-
6735 or in Canada 416-507-3022 (these numbers are modem
lines only).
