MATH COMMANDO 1.01 Release Notes -- 3 May 1987
Overview:
Math Commando is a memory resident reverse polish notation calculator
with business, statistical, computer base, and scientific functions.
Documentation:
Documentation is only available in printed format to registered
users. We have provided some instructions at the end of this file
to get you started.
Availability & Pricing:
Math Commando is available for $30.00 with printed documentation.
Your copy may be registered by sending a check or money order to:
Sandi & Shane Stump
Box 13719
College Station, Tx 77841
or by calling 1-(409)-776-1911 for Visa, MC, and COD orders.
If you have not registered your copy, please do not call us for
support.
When registering, if in the continental United States, please
provide a street address, rather than post office box, if possible.
We normally ship orders via UPS.
If you are a Texas resident, please add 6.25% sales tax ($1.88) per
Math Commando ordered.
For orders outside North America, please add $10 for shipping per
order.
We do have a version for the Texas Instruments computer.
Registration is on a single user basis. What this means is that the
$30 fee does not register an entire user group, business, company,
corporation, government office, school district or any other
multiple-user/computer organization. In these cases, we have
quantity pricing as follows:
Number of machines/users Price per unit
2 - 10 $27
11 - 25 $25
26 - 50 $20
51 - $15
Site licensing is available for larger companies. Please call for
more information.
Conditions for Use:
All new users are entitled to try this program out for a period of
two weeks. After this period of time, to continue using this
program legally, please send the required registration fee or
remove all copies of the software from your machine(s).
This program may be distributed by anyone, as long as our copyright
is not violated and the users agree to our conditions of use as
described above. A distribution fee of no more than $10 may be
charged for this program. It is up to the distributor to inform the
user that this fee does not entitle him/her to any privileges of
registration.
Benefits of Registration:
When you register as a user of our software, you will receive the
latest version of the program along with printed documentation,
phone support, and notification of new programs and versions. You
will be given a discount on subsequent purchases of our other
programs. Later updates will be reasonable, based primarily on
their cost.
Getting Started:
To execute the program, type MATH at the DOS prompt. If you cannot
read the screen clearly at this point, press ALT-SHIFT-C to go to
the calculator screen and then press ALT-U to uninstall Math
Commando from memory. Now run the program again by typing: MATH -c
at the DOS prompt. This places the program into Black & White mode.
If you intend to run a program with CGA graphics alongside Math
Commando, run MATH with the -g option. This option will save the
graphics screen correctly for your return to the program.
Once the program has been run, press ALT-SHIFT-C to "pop-up" the
calculator onto the screen. The functions of the calculator are
based on function keys. We selected these keys rather than
alphabetic keys for the simple reason that it is easy to run out of
mnemonic keystrokes for all of the math functions.
This calculator's function is based on the Hewlett Packard RPN
calculators. The stack and the first five registers are displayed
in the upper left half of the screen.
To add 30 + 1.88 first type 30, press ENTER, type 1.88, then press
the + key. To execute any function, first enter the number (or
numbers) to be acted upon, then the function key that corresponds to
the function that you wish to execute.
This calculator has more functions than originally meet the eye. To
display the other functions available, press the M-Mode key. This
key will show the other functions that you have to choose from:
B-Bus C-Comp S-Stat U-User (this isn't displayed-it only switches
the register mode back to user). When B or S are selected, the
register mode is changed to display the first five registers and
their contents for these functions.
The SHIFT-F7 function returns the value currently displayed in the
calculator window to DOS or the program currently running with Math
Commando.
To return to the DOS prompt or a program currently running with Math
Commando, press ESCAPE or Q to quit the calculator. The calculator
is still in memory.
To uninstall Math Commando from memory, go to the calculator screen
(ALT-SHIFT-C) and press ALT-U. The screen should clear and display
the message "Math Commando 1.xx terminated." and the DOS prompt.
Any program run after Math Commando will be terminated, so close all
files and exit before removing Math Commando from memory.
