Last updated: July, 1994
Diamond Data is a constantly evolving product. Many of the changes
it has undergone have been as a direct result of user input. Please
tell us what you like and don't like. It *DOES* make a difference.
What follows is a terse history of the evolution of Diamond Data.
Version 1.0 - Circa 1988.
Initial version developed for the author's personal
use.
Version 2.0 - Spring 1989.
Many new features. Still unreleased.
Version 2.01 - November 1989.
Initial shareware release.
- Game Winning RBIs added.
Version 2.02 - December 1989.
Bugs fixed:
- Problem displaying first entered player in player
selection menu.
Version 2.03 - April 1990.
- Company name changed to The Software Construction
Co.
Version 3.0 - August 1990.
- Totals on the bottom of reports.
- Games, Hit by pitch, Sacrifices, stolen bases added.
- SBMERGE program moved into main menu as a menu
choice.
- Reports may now go to a disk file.
- Data may be typed in directly as well as using + and
- keys.
- Player data may now be "filtered" prior to sorting
and printing a report.
- New co.<function-key> options for SOFTBALL.CFG.
- Games records added (date, opponent, runs, hits, and
errors for each team as well as winning percentage,
average runs per game, average hits per game, and
average errors per game).
- Clear Memory menu option.
Version 4.0 - April 1992
- Changed program name to Diamond Data to better
reflect its more general nature.
- Added defensive statistics.
- Added pitching statistics.
- Removed batting order calculation.
- Fixed limitation when typing in new database names,
the user was not able to backspace over the first
character.
- F10 is now the key to accept data entry windows
(used to be return). Return can be used to move
from field to field.
Version 4.1 - August 1992
- Fixed assertion error that occurred when trying to
delete defensive data for a player when none has yet
been entered.
- Fixed assertion error that occurred when trying to
edit defensive data for a player when none has yet
been entered.
Version 4.2
- Registrations now accepted by Public (software) Library
and BUDGETWARE.
Version 4.3
- Fixed problem causing filtration not to work at all!
- Fixed problem with Defensive Position menu starting out
with the title selected.
- Fixed a problem with reports where data would get
changed.
- Fixed a problem with the program "remembering"
position information. This was most likely to show up
as an assertion error upon trying to print a report.
- Added mouse statement to configuration file for
those people who continue to get mouse errors that
I haven't been able to eradicate. (i.e., put "mouse
= no" in diamond.cfg and no attempt will be made to use
the mouse.
Version 4.4
- Fixed a problem with generating reports where the data
contained defensive data (you would have seen an assertion
failure - last < temp->s.pos).
Version 4.5
- Fixed a bug when attempting to specify a filename when
reading, writing, or merging and there were more filenames
than could fit in the window.
- Added inning configuration parameter to diamond.cfg to
allow ERA calculations with games other than 9 innings
long.
- Game report now displays the correct date.
- Backspacing over all input when specifying a filename when
writing a database allows F1 key to work.
Version 4.6
- Calculation for OBA corrected to include sacrifices in the
denominator as per MLB Rule #10.22
- Assertion fault corrected when trying to read a database
in a directory without any .sbl files.
