  80.   Golfing definitions used by most golfers and a few other things
  81.   that are often wondered about are explained.  List contains 30+
  82.   individual definitions/explanations.

  92.   GolfCap quits and returns you to either the DOS prompt, Windows,
  93.   or the menu from where it was called.

  96.   ADD - Game
  97.   ==========
  98.   Select this option when you wish to add a new Game Record to the
  99.   database.  If you have more than one Course Record in the database,
  100.   you will be asked to select a Course from the "PickList".  You
  101.   really should bring your score card home with you to be assured
  102.   of entering the requested information correctly.

  104.   ■  There's no limit on the number of Games you can enter when
  105.      GolfCap is registered.
  106.  
  107.   (DATE)
  108.   ------
  109.   The 1st prompt will ask you for the date the game was played.  If
  110.   you are entering the information on the same day that the game was
  111.   played, just press <Enter> and the current date will be entered for
  112.   you.  If you need to enter a different date, you must enter the date
  113.   using the date format you selected when setting up GolfCap for the
  114.   1st time.  The two formats are "MM-DD-YYYY" or "DD-MM-YYYY" with
  115.   "MM" being the month, "DD" being the day and "YYYY" being the year.
  116.   If the month is from Jan. - Sep (01 - 09) then you must enter a zero
  117.   as the first digit.  If the day is from the 1st - 9th (01 - 09) then
  118.   you must also enter a zero "0" as the first digit here also.
  119.   Entering a Month larger than 12 or a Day larger than 31 will not
  120.   be accepted.  If you attempt to enter a Month or Day smaller than
  121.   10 in the first space, it will automatically place a zero "0" there
  122.   and jump to the second space.  The Year must be entered using all
  123.   four digits as in "1995."

  125.   (PARTNERS)
  126.   ----------
  127.   The next prompt will ask you for the name(s) of your playing
  128.   partners for the game being entered.  If you played alone, press
  129.   <Enter> without typing anything here and this prompt will be
  130.   skipped.  When entering the names here, remember that this field
  131.   is limited to 30 spaces so it might be best if you only enter the
  132.   first names when entering more than 2 playing partners.

  134.   (GREEN FEE - CART FEE)
  135.   ----------------------
  136.   If you paid a Green fee and/or rented a cart enter the amount
  137.   paid for the Green fee first (press <Enter> without typing anything
  138.   here to skip this prompt) then, after entering the Green Fee amount
  139.   you will be prompted for the amount you paid for cart rental.
  140.   Skipping this prompt can be accomplished by the same method just
  141.   mentioned for Green fee.

  143.   (HOLES PLAYED)
  144.   --------------
  145.   Here you enter the number of holes you played for this game. Only 2
  146.   figures will be accepted here; either 9 or 18.  If you enter 9 then
  147.   you will be asked if you played the front side (Holes 1-9) or the
  148.   back side (holes 10-18).  If the game is a 9-hole game, GolfCap will
  149.   automatically select the score box for the front 9 or the back 9
  150.   depending on the side you indicated.  If you entered 18, then GolfCap
  151.   will display the score box for the entire 18-holes of the Course
  152.   you selected earlier.

  154.   (SCORES)
  155.   --------
  156.   The score box will show the Hole # and the Par for each hole on the
  157.   course.  When entering scores here, you MUST NOT use the Arrow Keys
  158.   (LeftArrow & RightArrow) to skip from box to box.  Simply enter the
  159.   score for the hole then press the <Enter> Key to go to the next hole.
  160.   If you are a registered user of GolfCap AND you have an established
  161.   Handicap Index AND you have indicated that you want to use the
  162.   "Equitable Stroke Control" (ESC) rule, GolfCap will check each score
  163.   as you enter it to see that it fits within the range of the ESC rule.
  164.   If it's greater than the limit allowed, GolfCap will advise you and
  165.   adjust the score accordingly.  The maximum score for any hole is 25.
  166.   The minimum score for any hole is 1.  If you wish to stop before
  167.   completing the Game Record, you may press the <F10> Key then press
  168.   the <Enter> Key and you will be returned to the Main Menu.  The
  169.   record will not be saved if you use this means to exit early.

  171.   After entering the scores for the first 9-holes, the 9-hole total
  172.   score will be posted.  The minimum score allowed for handicapping
  173.   purposes is 27.  The maximum score allowed depends on the golfer's
  174.   age and sex.

  176.   ■  A golfer who starts, but fails to complete, a hole should use
  177.      a score based on the following:

  182.      1 - 18               2 over PAR
  183.      19 - 32              3 over PAR
  184.      33 and over          4 over PAR

  186.   ■  If the golfer is using ESC, the above scores may be adjusted
  187.      by GolfCap based on the golfer's Course Handicap.  For more
  188.      information regarding ESC, select "Definitions" under the
  189.      Main Menu heading MISC.
