  7. 1.  Place the CD into you CD-ROM drive.
  8. 2.  In Program Manager click on FILE, then click on RUN.
  9. 3.  Type in D:\WIN31\SETUP and press Enter. (If your CD-ROM
  10.     drive is not D, then change it to the letter associated with your
  11.     CD-ROM drive.)

  111. A Few Words About Performance
  112.  
  113. Arts & Letters DRAW can be run from the CD or installed to your fixed-disk drive.
  114. drive.  We recommend that you install DRAW if you have the fixed-disk space
  115. (approximately 28 MB) as the relatively slow access time of CD-ROM drives will
  116. have a dramatic impact on performance.
  117.  
  118. The Guided Tour of Arts & Letters EXPRESS runs primarily from the CD-ROM.
  119. The program and indexes are installed on your fixed-disk drive but all of the files
  120. and clip-art images are retrieved from the CD-ROM.  The performance of 
  121. EXPRESS will be affected by the relatively slow access speed of CD-ROM
  122. drives. The retail version of EXPRESS allows you to install selected files and
  123. images that you use frequently on your fixed-disk drive thereby improving
  124. performance while accessing the remainder of the files from the CD-ROM on
  125. an as needed basis.

  127. IMPORTANT:  If you already have a version of Arts & Letters EXPRESS
  128. installed on your system, do NOT install the Test Drive version as it
  129. may overwrite your working copy of EXPRESS.

  131. Installation Instructions

  133. 1. Start Microsoft Windows. At the top of the Windows display, the title bar
  134.    should read Program Manager.
  135.  
  136. 2. Pull down the File Menu and choose the Run... command.
  137.  
  138. 3. Type x:\install where x is the CD-ROM drive on your computer (D, E,etc.).
  139.    Press the Enter key on the keyboard to run the installation.
  140.  
  141. 4. Pull down the Installation menu and choose Install. The Product Choices 
  142.    dialog box will appear.
  143.  
  144. 5. Choose the option that best suits your needs and click on OK.
  145.  
  146. 6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  151. To start Arts & Letters DRAW, click on the DRAW icon in the
  152. Arts & Letters program group.
