  5. Welcome to the study of Lord of the Flies. This package of
  6. programmes is designed to let you have fun and at the same
  7. time to help you learn more about one of the most famous of
  8. all modern novels.
  9.     
  10. By the time you've finished you will have some idea of why
  11. this book is considered to be so good; you will see clearly
  12. what the title refers to; you should have a clearer insight
  13. into the demands of examinations; and you will have enjoyed
  14. yourself.

  16. This is the Microbee edition of the programme.

  18. There are two quizes included on the disk.
  19.    
  20. Quotation Quiz - helps you learn quotations from the novel.
  21. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  
  22. Missing Words - fill in the gaps in important extracts from
  23. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~   the novel.
  24.     
  25. As well there are detailed notes on themes imagery
  26. characters and other topics plus a summary of each chapter
  27. with detailed notes on key scenes.

  29. To help you visualise the setting there are pictures of the
  30. island and key locations are identified for you.

  32. To get started on the topic you choose just select it from
  33. the main menu and press:
  34.                          Return
  35. Move around the programme in the same way and return to the
  36. Main Menu to select new topics.

  38. The notes and activities are specially designed to help
  39. students who are taking:
  40.                  VCE English Literature
  41.     
  42. 'Lord of the Flies' may be on the syllabus in future years.

  44. Other students will find the programme useful also.
