  1. Welcome to Guitar Master Demo, a demonstration of Spartan Software
  2. Systems Music Series product, Guitar Master.  Guitar Master is an IBM
  3. PC, XT, AT and PS/2 compatible software program that combines the
  4. powerful features of a sequencer with the flexibility of MIDI to create
  5. a comprehensive guitar exploration and learning environment.  Guitar
  6. Master is to the guitarist what the word processor has been to the
  7. writer.

  9. Guitar Master teaches you how to play any standard MIDI file format
  10. song with simplicity using a computerized, graphical fretboard.  Guitar
  11. Master visually shows you where to play every note in the song,
  12. stepping forward and backward through complex leads and chords.  In
  13. addition, Guitar Master can calculate, display and print hundreds of
  14. different scale and chord charts.  You can create custom scale and
  15. chord charts using the edit option, easily turning notes on and off and
  16. adding custom fingerings.  Custom charts can be saved as image files
  17. and later recalled.  Guitar Master handles any type of alternate tuning
  18. you might want to use as well as providing support for four fretboard
  19. notations ranging from simple dots to the actual note value.

  21. With a Roland MPU-401 attachment, Guitar Master becomes a 64 track
  22. sequencer capable of recording, playing or overdubbing to any track.
  23. Since Guitar Master supports Standard MIDI Files, you can share songs
  24. with other music program that also support this standard.

  26. Guitar Master's intuitive user interface coupled with mouse support and
  27. context sensitive help screens make it an incredibly easy program to
  28. use.  Guitar Master also provides an extensive "profile" feature which
  29. allows you to customize many aspects of the program.  From teaching to
  30. composing your own songs, Guitar Master has the power and flexibility
  31. you need to get the job done!

  33. Guitar Master Demo is intended to provide you with an excellent idea of
  34. the full capabilities of the actual Guitar Master product before you
  35. buy.  This demonstration program provides all the function found in
  36. Guitar Master with the following exceptions.  Guitar Master Demo can
  37. only display scale and chord charts in the key of C Major.  Guitar
  38. Master Demo can only play the MIDI File provided on the program
  39. diskette (GMDEMO.MFF).  Recorded sequences and image files cannot be
  40. saved to disk.  Other than these exceptions, Guitar Master Demo
  41. functions exactly like the actual product.

  43. In order to realize the full integration of Spartan Software products,
  44. the installation program, INSTALL.BAT, should be used to install Guitar
  45. Master Demo.  The installation program will create a "common area" on
  46. the disk (or diskette) of choice where Guitar Master Demo will be
  47. installed.  Then as you purchase other Spartan Software products, they
  48. can be added to this common area via their installation programs to
  49. assure you of complete integration between products.

  51. The installation program will create a master directory called \SPARTAN
  52. which contains a unique subdirectory for each Spartan Software product
  53. that you purchase.  These subdirectories house the actual program files
  54. needed to run that particular application.

  62. The following procedure will install Guitar Master Demo on your fixed
  63. disk.  If you wish to install Guitar Master Demo to a disk other than
  64. your C drive, substitute its drive letter everywhere you find the
  65. letter "C" in the following steps.  If you wish to install Guitar
  66. Master Demo from a drive other that your A drive, substitute its drive
  67. letter everywhere you find the letter "A" in the following steps.

  69.      Insert the Guitar Master Demo diskette into drive A:
