WolfPack
Demo Disk
Quick Start Card
Starting the Demo:
You may load the WolfPack Demo from any disk drive. Simply
insert the disk in the drive, type WOLFPACK and press the Enter
key.
If you would like to install the demo on a hard drive, place
the disk in any drive, type INSTALLD and then the drive where
the demo disk is located (i.e. A:), type a space, and then the
destination drive (i.e. C:) and press the Enter key. For the
above example, your command should look like this:
INSTALLD A: C:
Performing the Install procedure will create a directory called
WOLFDEMO on your hard disk.
Type WOLFPACK and press the Enter key to play. The demo will
prompt you to answer a few questions concerning your system
configuration. Once you have completed this task the game will
load.
If you do not press a key, once the demo has loaded past the
title screen the game will go into a self running demo. The
first screen you see is that of the Submarine. If you would
like to take over, use the mouse or joystick to click on User
Control (the keyboard command is U). Once you choose User
Control, the submarine is in your hands. You command all of
the Submarines controls and weapons.
Submarine mission:
Your objective from the Submarine side is to sink as much
Allied tonnage as possible.
Your mission:
You are to enter a Royal Navy anchorage where several merchant
ships are waiting to sail. Your wolf pack consists of three
submarines. Under these circumstances, this should be enough to
perform your mission. However, beware... There is a destroyer
protecting the merchants and it is rumored to be equipped with
the newly discovered Active SONAR.
If you would like to command a surface vessel (i.e. destroyer
or merchant ship), you'll need to follow the instructions
below:
a) Press Ctrl-Q to stop the demo
b) Press Esc twice to exit the Submarine Screen.
c) You will be placed in the Command Screen. If this were the
actual game, you would be able to load, save, and create new
games from this section of the program.
d) Click on the Surface option located near the top of the
screen (the keyboard command is Ctrl-D).
e) Click on the GO box located in the lower left portion of
the screen (the keyboard command is G).
Note: To exit from the surface side and return to the
submarine, follow the steps above (Press Ctrl-S to select
Submarine rather than Ctrl-D to select Surface).
The first screen you see on the surface side is a merchant
ship. If you would like to take over, use the mouse or
joystick to click on User Control (the keyboard command is U).
To select a destroyer, click on the STAT option (the keyboard
command is S) located in the center of the screen. A roster of
ships will be displayed. Use a mouse or joystick to scroll to the
bottom of the listing. Select the only destroyer listed
(Niblack). To perform this function using the keyboard, press
CTRL + or CTRL - to scroll up and down the list, then use the
arrow keys to move the pointer to the Niblack. Press the INS
key to select the ship and you will be transported to bridge of
the Niblack.
Once you choose User Control, the destroyer is in your hands.
You command all of the destroyers controls and weapons.
Surface Mission:
Your objective from the surface side is get your convoy to its
destination undamaged. However, submarine assaults are
eminent. Therefore, you must guide your convoy to safety while
destroying as many German submarines as possible.
Your mission:
You are to protect the anchorage while the convoy gets set to
sail. Intelligence reports that a German wolf pack might have
penetrated the submarine nets and plans to strike at night.
Stay alert and godspeed.
Submarine Weapons:
Each submarine has four forward and two aft torpedo tubes. A
Deck Gun is also available to fire, if you are completely
surfaced. Obviously, torpedoes are more effective. If you
surface, you will expose yourself to the surface vessels and
lose your stealth advantage.
Firing torpedoes at a target is done by first clicking on the
target shown on the screen. The program will let you know if
it is in range. Next you will need to click on the torpedo
icon located on the far right of the screen (the keyboard
command is CTRL-F to fire. CTRL-A will fire the aft torpedoes.
However, the viewport must be set to greater than 90 degress and
less than 270 degrees).
Destroyer Weapons:
Destroyers have hedgehogs, depth charges, and deck guns at
their disposal. Press H to fire hedgehogs, C to release a depth
charge, and G to fire deck guns.
We hope you have fun with this demo version of WolfPack. The
purpose of this demo is to give you a sample of WolfPack's fine
quality and gameplay. The program and documentation include a
great deal more options and information than that which is contained
in this demo.
