GUNSHIP 2000 SELF-RUNNING DEMO
Menu Options
~~~~~~~~~~~~
SELECT DEMO: four different "films", two in Europe and two in
the desert, have been included for viewing. Select this option
by pressing the "Enter" key and then select the film of choice.
By selecting "FULL DEMO", the four films play sequentially and
then loop back to the beginning of the first film to repeat the
sequence. This way, a continuous demo can be setup. When in the
FULL DEMO mode, pressing "alt-e" immediately selects the next
film; pressing "alt-q" returns to the menu. When viewing a
single film, either "alt-e" or "alt-q" returns to the menu.
CONTROLLER: setting this option is only necessary if a film is
switched to interactive mode for actual flight control. If so
desired, select the appropriate option, and then follow the
prompts.
SOUND SOURCE: select the desired sound option, if any.
DIGITIZED SOUND: set this option to "ON" to activate digitized
speech, or to "OFF" to disable digitized speech.
DETAIL LEVELS: this option is utilized to adjust the amount of
detail displayed. The simulation runs faster if all detail
options are set to "OFF".
BEGIN: the demo starts playing the indicated film or enters the
FULL DEMO mode. While the film is running, the demo may be
switched to interactive mode by pressing "alt-x".
QUIT: exits from the demo.
KEY SUMMARY An interesting feature of this demo is the ability
to switch a mission film to interactive mode and actually take
over the flight of the helicopter. Listed below, in summary
form, are the basic primary controls necessary to actually fly a
helicopter in GUNSHIP 2000. Many additional controls and options
beyond this list are available in GUNSHIP 2000, but have been
abbreviated as to not overwhelm a new player. Press "alt-e" to
end an interactive flight.
A few points to note for reference when in the interactive mode.
The rotor MUST be engaged ("9 key") before the helicopter can
take off or continue to fly.
Time can be accelerated by eight levels (it steps in multiples
of two). The level displays at the upper left under the game
clock.
When in the large scale map mode, waypoints can be set by
pressing the "f" key and then using the joystick or directional
keys to move the cursor. Upon reaching a desired location, press
enter/stick #1, button #1 to set the point. Up to three distinct
points can be set. To set less than three points, press
backspace/stick #1, button #2.
