The following is a mission disk composed on F3.0c. The missions are by Craig Allen, Charles Andaloro and Ken Cook. A couple of the missions are made by both Craig and Ken.
Most of these missions are difficult, but not impossible. They were tested on Ace, Low accuracy, Reserve AAA & SAM on complex ... this doesn't mean you can't try other settings ... we encourage you to experiment with different levels to find the one that is most comfortable for your style and skill level. Most of the missions are designed with the thought of the SAMS and AAA being selected to above "none". They are also designed to play with the original ordinances that come up in the armarment screen ... so at least try them with the pre-selected ordinance.
TIP: For anybody wondering how in the heck can you aviod those darn SAMS without an ECM pod try this "near" fool proof method. When you see the dreaded little square box in the threat indicator circle, keep the little box (SAM) either directly to the right (90 degrees) or left (270 degrees). Once the little box is directly to the side keep it there even if it means flying straight ... oh yeah and be sure to blow some chaff and flares.
Okay ... on to those missions.
RATTLER: Intelligence has reason to suspect that an enemy SAM battery is moving into position in the mountains northwest of the city. Keep your 65Bs ready as you head into the mountains and be ready for a firing solution as you crest the peak of the hill. Quickly drop down into the valley to avioid line-of-sight detection by the enemy. Without an ECM pod, you'll have to rely on flying ability and skillful weapons delivery to pull through this one. Destroy all enemy SAM sites and make it home alive to succesfully complete this mission ... oh by the way ... take the waypts home and keep a good eye out hehehehehe. by Craig Allen/Ken Cook
KCBEEHIV: You are called opon to give CAP to a couple of A-10s, but there is a surprize party waiting for you. Try to hang on cause some help is close by. Keep a good look out on the way back to base. by Ken Cook
KC27OZERS: Your on patrol when your AWACs asks you to give CAP for a couple of F4s that are giving them hell. AWACs reports there are incoming bogeys vectored against those F4s. Once your done there, AWACs thinks you still might have enough of the right stuff to give a couple of E3s an escort coming back to base. by Ken Cook
COVERT: Your flying an extremly important mission with an unusal aircraft ... you got a two seater Falcon and you need to drop off one of the Allied's best field commander at a far away airfield with a short runway. Your first priority is to land safely!!! (once you land count to 20 to simulate the time it might take for your passinger to get out). Three KFIR's are escorting you from afar as to not give away your position. They will be at your 4 o'clock so don't mind the spike from that direction. You should go in NOE with your radar off. Be alert on the way home ... if you nap you may wind up with a very long sleep. by Craig Allen/Ken Cook
JAVELIN: Allied and enemy troops are moving into position to engage each other on the plateau northwest of your airbase. Your job is to lead three Fighting Falcons into the area and terminate all SAM activity. Mavericks and radar-homing missiles are unavailable, so you'll have to stay very low as you ingress into the target zone. Use your rockets to silence the SA-6 missile batteries before they silence you. by Craig Allen/Ken Cook
BANDIT: One of Craig's favorite missions in the original Falcon was one called "Black Bandit". Just our best vs. their best in a one-on-one engagement that only a fighter pilot could love. Craig's taken the original concept and spiced it up a bit, courtesy of Falcon 3.0's Red Flag Mission generator. You'll start out in the air heading due east. You've got one bogey (or more!?) headed due west, so keep your eyes peeled and your trigger finger ready! by Craig Allen
DROPKICK: A prototype of the enemie's new stealth fighter has been flown to a base along the front and parked in one of two concrete-reinforced hangars. Take out both hangars with your GBU-15s and time permitting, level the remaining (green) hangars with your Mavericks. by Craig Allen
BLINDEM: Knockout IL-76 Airfield a West end of range. Waypoint 3 both runways need to be cut. Also try and help the F-15s covering your flight protect the F-4s ahead of you. Waypoint 1 & 2. by Charles Andaloro
CLOSAIR: Protect A-10s ahead of you attacking ground targets. Takeout any strike aircraft threatening your forces. by Charles Andaloro
DEFECTOR: You have mixed feelings as you take to the air to stop a renegade F-14 pilot who has defected. Intel reports SAM and Mig patrol activity in the area, so stay low and use the terrain to your advantage. Slide in hegnd the Tomcat pilot and take him out before he lands at the enemie's airbase. by Craig Allen
SCRAMBLE: Startled by the air-raid siren, you spring out of the officer's quaters and sprint across the field to your F-16. Tu-22s are reported inbound, and if you don't stop them the enemy plans to follow-up with a ground-based attack on the airfield. by Craig Allen
The following are exercises to hone your dogfighting skills made by Craig Allen
1V1H2H: 1 VS 1 head to head
1V2SXS: 1 VS 2 side by side
1V2H2H: 1 VS 2 head to head
2V2H2H: 2 VS 2 head to head
Your input on the missions will be very welcome whether its positive or negitive. Any observations noted could prove helpful in any future mission disk projects.
On Prodigy and possible Hidden a contest of sorts could be arranged to compair how you do with other pilots on the exact same mission. Discussions on tactics and approaches could prove quite helpful for all.
