  14. SE credits: The trees, bushes, and background are "original," but 
  15. we owe a great debt to Lee Ritze. The blotches of color used to make 
  16. the trees and background come from his Merion Course, as do the cloud 
  17. effects, which we borrowed intact. Some color blocks also come from 
  18. Mark Willett. Some of the smaller objects have been adopted from 
  19. other courses. Their origin is uncertain.

  21. About the course: George W. Dunne National Golf Course is a municipal 
  22. course managed by the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, 
  23. Illinois. It is located at 159th St. and Central Avenue in the Chicago 
  24. metroplex. We have tried to recreate it for SE as accurately as 
  25. possible, though in reality it is even more wooded in some places 
  26. than is possible to replicate within the SE 240 object limit.

  55. A note on difficulty: As is obvious from the course rating and slope, 
  56. this is a very difficult course in real life. If anything, the SE 
  57. version is _less_ difficult than the real one. We have not knowingly 
  58. included elevations or other elements that make the course unreasonably
  59. difficult.

  61. Because of the length and the large amounts of water and sand, the 
  62. course plays very difficult under some conditions. On calm days, 
  63. scores in the mid to low 60s are quite possible, but with any wind 
  64. over 10 mph, scores will rise. Realistically, the course _should_ 
  65. be played with a moderate to high wind. It _is_ in "The Windy City"
  66. after all!

  68. There are a few bits of knowledge about the course that may help. Most 
  69. of the greens are very large and slope fairly severely back to front, 
  70. so it's best to miss below the hole. On several of the tee shots, a 
  71. draw/hook or fade/slice may put you in a better position. On some holes, 
  72. a shot of this nature is practically required if you don't want to lay 
  73. up off the tee. If the course seems too difficult, playing from the blue 
  74. tees may help. In real life, the gold tees are rarely set out anyway.
