VCR Tape Mission Descriptions
The text below describes the missions contained in this file. I would suggest
that you watch each mission VCR "tape" through first before you attempt to
fly them. This way you can see how I managed to survive or not survive each
one and can avoid mistakes. I tried to make each tape visually interesting so
they won't be a big bore. I hope you like them. If you have a Prodigy
account, drop me a note privately to my mailbox or publically on the PC CLUB
bulletin board in the OTHER GAMES subject and let me know what you think of
my little "gems". Be sure to watch for my other files for LucasFilms'
"Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" on a local BBS near you in zipped files
named: SWOTL#1.ZIP, SWOTL#2.ZIP, SWOTL#3.ZIP as of 01/01/92. You can find
these files and some others along with this group of Red Baron missions on
the DUNE BBS, Portage, IN, 219-762-5620.

1. A1820PTS.VCR - This is a balloon busting mission at the front. You are
to destroy the three observation balloons put up by the
German Army. These balloons are defended by three German
aces: Goering, Lowenhardt, and Lothar von Richthofen.
2. Alone.VCR - This is a fighter vs. fighter mission and one of pure
survival. As the mission starts you are quite alone in
your Fokker D.VII on and have been patrolling the front
for enemy activity. Unfortunately, two enemy fighters
have slipped into position at your 7 o'clock position.
Just as you decide to engage these two fighters 4 more
enemy fighters appear ahead!
None of the enemy are aces in this mission, it's tough
enough without them! The enemy combat mix consists of
a Sopwith Snipe, Spad XIII, Sopwith Triplane, SE-5a,
and 2 Sopwith Camels. The two planes that start on your
your wing are actually converted German wingmen. They
won't fire on you until the other 4 enemy fighters begin
to engage you or until you press the 'A' for 'Attack'
key anytime before that. Once either one of these two
conditions is met, they become just as deadly to you
as the real enemy pilots. I haven't figured out how to
make them count as enemy planes on the Mission Review
screen as yet so they will show up as Aircraft Lost.
3. Flycircs.VCR - As an experienced pilot you have chosen to ignore the
standing orders against solo combat missions over the
enemy held areas. You have taken your SE-5a on a
personal tour of the German occupied landscape and are
hoping to perhaps add a German reconnaisance plane or
an unwary fighter to your growing score.
As the tape starts you have just caught a glimpse of
something down below you. As you look closer you see it
is a small group of 4 blood red Fokker Dr.I triplanes.
It is no less than the Baron Manfred von Richthofen and
three of his henchmen from his colorful "flying circus"
of aces.
4. Deuce.VCR - You are flying a solo intercept mission to catch a pair
of Handley Page 0/400 bombers and their escorts. The
bombers are being escorted by two top American aces
Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker and Frank Luke.
5. Bombduel.VCR - You are leading your squadron of Albatross D.III fighters
on a patrol when you suddenly notice four Handley Page
0/400 bombers above you. As you begin to maneuver and
alert your wingmen, you notice something strange about
them. Instead of flying straight and level they are
diving! Diving at you!
6. Acerecon.VCR - The Allies have tired of losing their valuable recon
aircraft to your attacks. Escorts have helped, but not
always. So unknown to you the Allied command has cooked up
a little surprise for the next German patrol, which just
happens to be your patrol!
